how do you transfer ps2 saves to ps3 legitly? Is it really "backwards compatible" if you can't use your old memory-card? seems closer to emulation.
You don't transfer them. You can't transfer them. That's not what I said or what I'm saying. I'm saying if you can download PS2 games and the PS3 has a digital memory card system that saves the data. You're not gonna be able to transfer your memory card data to the Wii-U. That's not the point. It would be nice, but it wouldn't be smart financially and really isn't that big of a deal.

What I'm looking forward to the most on Wii U is the Miiverse. I'm still a little confused about how it works though. Anyone know if it'll be a network of people around the world or just your friends?

It's kind of a worldwide square, but I think your friends and people who play what you play are easier to find. I like the concept because it kind of graphically shows you how big a community is, rather than simple and boring numbers or figures.

I'm 100% sure it'd be on the lines of
"Save you Wii game to an SD card and use the WiiU SD card slot to transfer them to the memory".

The Miiverse looks cool but after playing around with Playstation Home it's going to those annoyances like: Advert spamming, perverts and annoying gamers who know nothing.
Overall though I think it'll be good.

For Wii saves, yes, that wasn't a question. He's talking about Gamcube game saves.

I never even go in PSHome. It's boring. However, Miiverse isn't the same idea. Miiverse, from what I can tell, is the ability to get in touch with other gamers during gameplay (You can't visit Home during gameplay on PS3). It seems to just be a place for your friends and other Wii-U owners to come together and discuss (almost like a forum or message board).

RE: Wii-U
Agentkuo -- I don't care if thats not what you were talking about, you responded to me implying I was dumb for saying it can't be backwards compatible. What you have defined is NOT backwards compatible. Therefor it is still impossible for the wiiU to be GC backwards compatible, Emulating it is different, for one you can't use all the accessories you bought or use the saves you've accomplished.. that was MY point.

Miiverse --First of all i think you are referring to "Mii Wara Wara" as the PlayStation home clone. Miiverse is actually the network (like PSN or something) An example of this is how the Fifa developers say Fifa pulls your "miiverse" data and friends list for its own network ingame.

It's everything from local accounts to friends to worldwide.

It will not be spammed with ads and perverts because anything posted regionally/globally will have a half hour delay and go through a screening by Nintendo. This goes for messages and drawings. (They said something about a rep system, so those who post normally for a long time wont get delays and people who get screened alot will get very long delays, only read about this once and didn't fully understand it)

If this is the issue you're concerned about, why didn't you bring it up in your original response? I didn't imply you were dumb. I stated that Gamecube games would likely be downloadable (and they likely will be).

I said "Gamecube games are not backwards compatible. They've already confirmed this. They will likely be downloadable. "

And you replied: "How could they be? There is no hole for GC controllers or Memory Cards haha ".

At this point I assumed we had moved on from whether or not the Wii-U was backwards compatible. (I already stated that it was confirmed it wasn't. So there would be no point in arguing that it would be possible.) So I took it that your response was in response to my comment, "They will likely be downloadable". And thought that what you were saying was: "How could they [gamecube games] be [downloadable]? There is no hole for GC controllers or memory card haha". and not "How could they [gamecube games] be [backwards compatible]? There is no hole for GC controllers or memory card haha"

This is why I responded the way I did. I was attempting to justify how you could play gamecube games without needing a gamecube controller or memory card by comparing it to how they handle the same situation on the PS3. At no point was I trying to show or argue how the Wii-U could be backwards compatible with Gamecube games. That thought was completely out of my mind at this point (I had moved on from that point, and assumed you had too).

And now, for some reason, in this reply, you go off on my like I'm an idiot. Telling me I was trying to imply you were dumb, when that was never my intention. I was simply standing by my case (that the Wii-U is not backwards compatible, but it can still play Gamecube games that are downloaded). The whole thing is just a big misunderstanding. There's no need to be hostile about it.

RE: Wii-U
Loved watching that video. Well, I agree with Sirion. If our friends and relatives play out some of the same games which we play generally then it becomes easy to find that particular game and this thing really shows the size of the community.

Also, Iwata has stated that the main focus of the Wii U is to "establish a trusting relationship with third party developers". This is what was done on the 3DS and Iwata claims that he wants to "further improve the situation with the Wii U".
------(Not to be confused with the Wii's "They will come on their own" quote)

Lastly, Iwata has currently stated that they are not concerned with being most powerful next gen, as has been stated before, and that they believe being first on the market will not give them an advantage. He says that price will be the most determined factor for success for this new console, which correlates with his previous statements that consumers shall be pleased with the price and it will not sell for a loss

Price. It's cheaper to not have an ethernet port than it is to have one.
