Most Overrated Games

I thought Assassin's Creed Revelations was a bit overrated. It was meh the entire game except the end.

I really really think League of Legends is overrated. My boyfriend plays it and I just never saw what the hype was about...but it's all him and his friends talk about. -shrugs-

And I don't think pokemon, in itself, is overrated, I think that Nintendo cashed franchise out so much for it to become something that people see as a game that needs to stop. I don't really want it to stop because it's basically my lifelong obsession...but I see why people see it as an annoyance.

For me it is FF7, I can understand that it is not only a huge game but it is also using 3D models. But I personally could not get behind it as I tried to play it but it just was not that much fun for me.

I still think Final Fantasy VII is overrated to hell and back, and I did play it too, I just... dont understand what's so amazing about the game (even its storyline) but that's just me.

Just thought I'd say something about League. If you are not into strategy team games then yes it's overrated but if that's your thing then it's about the best type of game you'd find that qualifies for that, the only real deterrent is the huge learn curve with the game, but I can understand how someone would think its overrated.

I have to agree that Skyrim is overrated. It had ok gameplay and decent music. I was told to play for the story, which I dd. The story wasn't so good. I personally didn't like it that much.

Now, for a personal reason I did not like the game. This is a shallow reason, and I admit it is shallow. In order to understand the reason,I must first tell a small story. I'm a few hours into the game, playing around, having fun. I've managed to kill enough dragons to have 2 complete shouts, not including fus roh dah. I get done absorbing the latest dragon soul and make my way to the nearest city. The first thing I hear upon entering, the first thing, is some random npc shouting "Did you know dragons have come back?"
I actually twitched a bit, then took out my sword and hacked away until he was dead. Then, when the guards and other townsfolk came after me, I killed them, too. Then, I go to the next city, and guess what? No one even knows about the massacre that took place. No one at all. I even went out of my way to make sure enough time had passed so people might notice. But no, my actions did not affect the world as much as I'd like. So, I quit.

That is one of the main reasons I disliked it. It was hyped up as a game where every action had a consequence. Well, how come killing an entire town doesn't get the whole country hunting me like a dog chasing a cat?

Left 4 Dead, before i played i though the game would be better, but it gets too repetitive, it doesn1t have a history, and the game screen is so dark, even if you brighten.

Whereas I love the Pokemon series and I play it with some of my mates, the game is the same everytime.
The concept was intelligent and the thought of being the best 'Creature's that in fit into tiny Ball Capsules' Trainer in Sinnoh or whatever was pretty awesome. But every few years, we wait and we build up hype, just to get another Team Rocket or Magma or Aqua, they try steal Pokemon, and we have to save them. And even though theres maybe more Pokemon, and they're new, most of them are just plain boring. Atleast Zigazoons were actually appealing to look when they spammed you in the grass at the start. All you get in Black/White is cute, tiny dogs.

Same shit, different smell.

Final Fantasy VII

Yeah it was a good game. But is it as good as everyone makes it out to be? No. And I'll tell you why. Firstly the story, borefest. Good concept, piss poor writing. Maybe you can blame it on the translation, maybe not. Next up graphics, not the best at the time, totally don't hold up now. The battle system I liked, can't fault that. And replayability is just a no for me.

Plus it was probably 75% of people's first taste of RPG (including me) and therefore they'll hold it high in their nostalgiac hands and there's just so many better RPGs, even back then.

Also World of Warcraft. F that game.

Never really enjoyed the original Sonic games too much. Seemed like they used speed instead of gameplay. Might just be because I'm more of a Mario kinda guy.

Same here, man. It a lot of times it felt like "push left to win".

The original Sonic games weren't bad though. I just felt that Mario did everything better.

It's hard to play with that Moon looming over you. You have a clock at the bottom as a constant reminder for for the countdown to the end of world. Really, it's "overrated" because Nintendo took a chance to make a serious story with a dark-serious tones and succeeded in doing so. So you can appreciated what they did and see why it's highly praised. It's not about saving Hyrule and travelling a vast field/ocean, but saving a town from doom.

Some of the best times I've had are on Left 4 Dead. You really need to have a team on Left 4 Dead to get the most out of it. So much fun playing the game for hours on end when you have a team to mess around with.

(1 I think for me, Skyrim. I'm not saying the game is bad, but it wasn't as bind mlowing as I thought it'd be. I found myself enthralled by The Witcher 2 which is a better Skyrim.

(2 The same can be said for Call of Duty, but for different reasons. CoD2 is a bloody fantastic game. CoD 4 definitely threw the series in the right direction and was also a pretty solid game. The only reason I play CoD is for the single player; which for me, has decent story telling. But it got stale when they announced Black Ops. All these CoD games are, are the CoD4 base game with a MW3/Clack BOPs being a different gun pack texture mods. I don't hate CoD though. I think some people have a crappy attitude towards this game series. That's cool to hate the fanbase (same with FFVII) but that doesn't make the game bad. See CoD has the a-hole fanbase while FFVII(Or most things Japanese(Miku Hatsune)) has the creepy weaboo fanbase. The fanbase may be annoying but the games can be pretty good.
