RE: Wii-U
I actually forgot that Wii games had online...

Is this a bad thing? Or was it the fact that nobody really used the online features for the Wii??

Nah, Nintendo was never big on hyping it's online capabilities. I will give Nintendo credit though, when I had a Wii and not a computer, their web browser worked to perfection.

RE: Wii-U
I played the Wii U at New York Comic Con. Maybe it was because I had high expectations, but I was disappointed. All the games were either worse ports of games I could play on 360/PS3/PC, shovel ware, ZombiU, Pikmin 3, or New Super Mario Bros U (only fantastic games.)

Voice chat will not be standard across all games or even the system itself. Even though the WiiPad has a built-in microphone, it can't be used for voice chat.

So far the only games listed to support in-game voice chat are Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3 and Black Ops 2. Nintendo has yet to announce voice chat support for any further games, never mind detailed plans of the Wii U's online suite.

You may not point it out, as it shows you've got selective reading. Not having standard voice chat (see above) is one of the reason's I don't see the Wii U having better online then the 360. I also said this:

"Also, Nintendo's unproven when it comes to online, sure they've dabbled in it before, but I have more faith in Sony's online then Nintendo's. It'll be interesting to see how Nintendo handles Black Ops 2 being online."

I've played the Wii online and the DS online, and neither of them were terribly impressive. Nintendo, again, is unproven in this area. For you to sit back and say, "the WiiU will have the best online!" is hilarious, because there's no proof Nintendo knows what it's doing.

(11-08-2012 11:08 PM)Skarro Wrote:  (Basically any game you'd need to have it in) This is the same as ps3 and I never noticed a game where i felt restricted because i couldn't voice chat. Also you could still handwrite live so even if some 2 player online rpg doesn't support it you could still resort to handwritting i guess. I think I would trade microphone only in most online games for Videochat Pictochat, screenshots, spoiler free discusson, game progress dependent comments, and no cost.

If you really think not speaking with other players who you're playing with in an online game isn't important, you either don't play multiplayer games online or are just blatantly ignoring Nintendo's stubbornness to get with the times and finally bring voice chat in. Play "Black Ops 2" online and let me know how fucking easy it is to write a message on the GamePad while everything's exploding around you, and all you wanted to do was tell your friend where the guy who just killed you is hiding.

(11-08-2012 11:08 PM)Skarro Wrote:  your basicly spending $10 a month on chatting with your friends in a few games your not supposed too. I'd rather buy netflix or something.

No, I'm not spending ten bucks a month to talk with my friends. This is a clearly a sign of ignorance, as you no nothing about what you get from paying for Xbox Live.

- There's always constant sales on various games on demand and arcade games.
- Free apps like Crackle and IE.
- Companies bring DLC first and in some cases, only to Xbox Live.
- Companies will patch their games, thanks to the Xbox Live Gold membership covering the overhead cost of fixing games. For example, Capcom patched up a DLC costume issue with Street Fighter 4 on the 360 but not on the PS3 due to the cost being high and no one was willing to pay for it.
- Better security.....
- Exclusive games, be it Games on Demand or Arcade titles.
- Little to no lag.

See there's plenty of reasons the handful of change I pay per day isn't just for chatting it up with my friends, in fact it does a lot more. From bringing me sales on games to support the games I play and my account security (coughpsnhackcough), there's plenty of reasons to pay for the service.

At the end of the day it really doesn't matter if I pay for Xbox Live or not, we're talking about Nintendo here, and unless they can match the online play, apps, security, and specials that Xbox Live and PSN have, they certainly won't have the best online out of the bunch.

- That source is outdated. I just said there is a new karaoke game using the gamepads mic. Im not the only one with "selective reading" I guess. Also there is USB mics already being made, stand alone from the gamepad. ALSO there is no Online game announced that doesn't support it yet.

- So your second reason is your personal lack of faith...wouldn't call that a valid point. Considering third party developers without full access have been praising it, especially indie developers.

- Talk about "selective hearing" again, I just said every game that needs it, uses it. Just like ps3 there is no gamechat by the system in games that don't include it. And I honestly can't think of an online game that doesn't have voice chat built in right now. I'm willing to bet I own more online games then you. I have hundreds on PC alone. Voice chat is important, and im willing to bet any 4 player or more online game for Wii U will support it, just like the ps3 did. They just left it up to the game developers instead of making there own system... which though was a great idea, turn out it wasn't needed. So give it a rest now.

- Aside from Crackle and IE, that is all offered for free on steam. You are being scammed as are all Xbox gold members. I HAVE used it, I payed for it for a year when Perfect Dark HD was released. Paying for discounts offered to microsoft by game companies in the first place and patches which microsoft shouldn't be charging for in the first place is a complete cash grab. Don't get me wrong I love my xbox, but they love taking money too much. ($99 for me to pick up my own wireless signal!?!?! I almost shit my pants!)

unrelated, heres an example of peoples misinformation on WiiU http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4897 almost 20% of people think nintendo needs to remove friend codes from the wii U... nevermind the people who believe that and just didn't vote it. Nintendo is awful at advertising... to note again for those who dont know why I am raging THERE IS NO LONGER A FRIEND CODE SYSTEM, AND YOU NOW ADD FRIENDS THORUGH GAMES AND MIIVERSE MUCH LIKE YOU DO ON PS3, STEAM AND 360

Well if you ever find the free time between your work and surfing this forum to conjure up another fanboy influenced attack on my selective reading and lack of online gaming experience you are welcome to respond with more then an "I'm to busy to admit I was wrong" comment.

Update: Confirmed web browser in game, pause and look something up or stream a video walkthorugh.

Sidenote - Youtube has an HTML5 beta program, if they switch over to HTML5 I have a feeling videos will run on the wiiU as seemless as a PC which would be a first for a console. (Since the WII U browser supports HTML 5)

sideside note - Why is it that I write "AN" HTML instead of a HTML... a HTML is technically correct (an before a vowel) but "an" sounds better doesn't it?

RE: Wii-U
seem to have a lot of free time to keep zinging me but not alot to actually reply defending your point that you seem to faithfully believe in. Maybe give it another go pointing out how im stupid. I'll lay out your points you were accusing me of being stupid and ignorant over since you don't have the "time" too.

- Telling me the WII U will not ever be able to use it's gamepads mic for games

- Implying there is a single online PS3 game or will be a WII U game that doesn't support chat where it's needed your example was "all you wanted to do was tell your friend where the guy who just killed you is hiding." Let me know of a ps3 game where this scenario can happen due to not supporting voice chat.

- Defending paying monthly for the apps on 360 (Since everything else is offered on steam for free..and actually far better deals, I once purchased L4D1&2 for 2 dollars, and was given portal 1 for free.)

And implying I don't have GOLD or online games.

An before vowel sound, not just a vowel. "a HTML" would not be correct.
Oh god...I'm "that guy."

As Gardocki knew he must manage to stray from admitting he was wrong and apologies for ignorantly attacking another based on his lack of knowledge. (As fanboys often did) he thought to himself "I better use all of my 4chan meme spamming strength in this next post!!" "It worked!" he said. "Now people will be distracted by how funny I am, not noticing how seriously and rudely I attempted to argue my point previously until I was proven wrong!" Was this the end? Had his post truly worked? Would he reply with more sarcasm or memes? or would he say nothing at all? We could only hope for the later.

Thanks Zaliphone. I started to think of other sentences and it was driving me crazy haha.

BACK ON TOPIC: Wii U Update

By default, the Wii U shuts down if you leave it unattended for a certain amount of time. This feature is called the ‘automatic shutoff’ and can be configured in your settings, and can be completely turned off.

Kid,not to get involve(but i am..durr goes my surprise!) but don't get mad cause he read the wrong info. This felt like last time that you were wrong but i let it go.We all make mistake.

Side Note:Friend Code still exist......(here comes the biggest shocker ever)....on the backward compatibility(which is the Wii) on the WiiU.

I'm planning to get one (but not on launch, there i said it,not you can all hate me) because money is tight.

Now on topic :you need an update an order to play Wii games(The biggest WTF moment ever) which is really bad to those who don't have internet.

- What's 4Chan?
- I stopped responding you seriously because it's like talking to wallpaper, you don't understand the facts and resorted to making stuff up.
- It's easier to let everyone see your ignorance then continue to point it out myself.
- This is far more fun then talking in circles with you. You've seemed lost for the last day or so.
- What's 4Chan?
