Apparently the broadcast is going to last ten minutes. I hope they don't just tease us with the title of a new game or something.

RE: New Pokemon announcement tomorrow 8/01/2013
Source whos been correct with leaks before says it's Pokemon Rainbow

"The source claims that ‘Pokémon Rainbow’ is in the works for Nintendo 3DS. The unconfirmed game will supposedly encompass the settings and Pokémon creatures from generations one to four. The source also claims that a Wii U application featuring a globe with five Pokémon – Pikachu, Munna Treeko, Cyndaquil and Piplup – on its logo will be introduced."

5 A.M. Here, this is gonna be fun.
I really hope they pull the next game off, sort of going to make or break it for my future interest in Pokemon. I like the old formula and all, but it's been nearly two decades and they're still using it, that's like if they kept making new 2-D Mario sidescrollers every few years and released them at full price.
Oh, wait...

Iunno, I just hope they mix it up a bit in a way that works, instead of the current state where everything has degraded to all the EV training crap that isn't fun.

Double post, sorry but it's a new topic, I'll merge 'em if you'd like.

Just watched it live (again, 5 AM here, gave me an excuse to get up early) and apparently the new games will be in 3D and have a bunch of new pokes, from what I've seen the battles actually look really cool and Pokemon-Stadium esque, but the character looks really derpy.
So I'm sort of excited, hope it works well.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

It will be released in October 2013 for the 3DS.

Also, there might be remakes of R/S. So, don't be annoyed at the fact there isn't.

And here is what the battles sort of look like in game.

See it for yourself.

I like how Spain and Italy still don't bother translating their Pokémon names Big Grin

This looks very good - I have 9 months to find me a 3DS !

EDIT - I also hope this game'll be playable by folk who haven't played for a few generations and know little about EVs and natures and washing-machinemon

RE: New Pokemon announcement tomorrow 8/01/2013
Got a couple of things to say about this. First off, I'm not liking this rushed schedule thing. We've had a major game release every year for the past 3 years or so. I mean Gen. 5 lasted for like what, a little over a year? It's beginning to seem like once they get done with one game they rush to start developing the next. I just hope that it's due to them splitting their focus between DS and 3DS.

Beyond that the game looks awesome. 3D Pokemon adventure time? Yes please.

Get hype! Can't wait for it.

@SeriouslyThough
They never focus their games on EV training. It's really for those who want to take competitive battling seriously. If you ever wanna learn, then just ask.

@Kai
I wouldn't think Nintendo would rush a Pokemon game. It may have been in development for months now. As Iwata pointed out, the release dates between some of the Pokemon updates have only been a year and a few months apart yet all of them have been typical high quality.

RE: New Pokemon announcement tomorrow 8/01/2013
The only thing that bothers me is the name. Does anybody else think that they sound just like placeholder names?

Besides that, the game does look amazing. Second time watching the video the player looks a little less derpy, and I remember not particularly liking Nate at first.

@Kai Remember that the game is not coming out for nine months at least for Japan, so it leaves us another year with Gen V.

Glad to see people actually like this announcement. I was worried that people would be like "God, where's my Ruby/Sapphire remake? I'm done with this series!"

Edit: I found out a few more things about the game if anyone's interested

- A reason why the new games are called X and Y is because of X, Y, and Z are the three planes of dimensions or something like that, so it references how the game is rendered in 3D polygons and the game can be viewed in actual 3D. Makes the names a little less stupid then.

- The new region it is set in is based on France, with a clear Eiffel Tower structure being seen in the trailer.

- The player character is seen to be skating throughout the city with a pair of roller blades. While this may be a wild guess, the roller blades could be the replacement for the bike, probably because it is easier than having a different bike model, meaning that this could be the first main series Pokemon game not to feature a bike.

Yeah, well I'm planning on getting a 3DS if this game gets good reviews because I'd love to start to play a Pokémon game again so I'll take you up on that offer Smile

Froakie looks, in my opinion, the coolest. I mean, it's a light blue frog with massive eye balls.
Although overall, these are probably the 3 coolest set of starters since the second gen.
