As unfair as it sounds, it's safe to say that SimCity is pretty much dEAd. Joke intended but pretty sad.

How did a part of gaming get to this ?

Because publishers consider you guilty until proven innocent or they want to milk you for all your money.
Dead Space 3 (last month) was filled with DLC. I've seen forum posts and comments from people saying "I'm not buying Dead Space 3 because of the forced co-op we didn't want (true), the online pass(which is required to get the full experience), the micro-transactions(Which caused a huge back lash), the disk locked content or the day-1 DLC" etc.

Visceral Games lost a lot of potential sales there and who published that game? EA
And who suffers? Us, the people who legitimately buy games while those EA are trying to stop (Pirates) have nothing to worry about. You can mod the ISO easily to get all the disk locked content you want, manually install title updates and no need to worry about an online pass since you can go online anyway.

Whats even sad about SimCity is that you may as well pirate the game, since legitimate paying customers aren't allowed online just like thoses who illegally downloaded it. But if you do get online in SimCity, a lot of the features have been taken off to suit the server issue. It's all EA.

drm and mismanagement. Last good Sim game was 3 in my view, and its been milked to hell and back with expansions. All kind of went down hill with Spore.

Out of all the questionable stuff regarding women in video games and that's what gets noticed? Huh?

He also didn't like the fight before the unlock which has Kratos stomp a woman's face. Here's the thing, it's not some random chick he did this to. It looked like it was a boss fight; he's done a lot worse to dude bosses. So far the only game I have played where violence against women has bothered me was in Clock Tower 3 where the hammer guy brutally murders a defenseless little girl who was playing a piano. However, it wasn't glorified, so I wasn't offended at all. It was just hard to watch since I don't like seeing kids of any gender get brutalized like that.

Oh Sessler, what hath happened to the?

I doubt he really cares. I mean, the games that got the most skits and publicity out of X-Play were Gears of War, Halo, CoD and the old Aquaman game, and they had Cliffy B on there more times than they showed that same stupid skit about L.A. Noire's detective questionables.

Hell, Kratos has killed countless gorgons/harpies/ambiguous gendered monsters, so why is one fury the 'worst thing ever?' Why not go yell about Heavy Rain having the only playable female character being put in various sexualized moments for no reason whatsoever? She had been bound at one point, gagged at another, drugged and almost killed by a osycho who wanted to cut her up, forced to strip for a sleazy Latino stereotype, 'plays' doctor at one point, and is never given proper story segments like the male characters. But, no, Heavy Rain is lauded as one of the best story-driven games of our generation. Personally, I think Sessler should fuck himself.

@Ouberry_13
I've seen that point before about Heavy Rain being sexualised yet while playing the game, I never felt like it was. Of course she would be in her underwear if she was asleep and raided during the night(which is a part of her background issue). But then, if it was a male character strapped down and about to stabbed with a drill would that be sexy in anyway?

You've got Madison and 007 both in a famous scene of being held down against their will and about to be killed by why is it that Madisons is sexy? She was fully dressed too.

Also, she is never forced to strip in Heavy Rain as that comes down to the player and seeing how far they can go but Madison herself even points how sleazy she feels just from dolling herself up in the bathroom.

Lastly, who finds women in peril sexy? I didn't know that a women being strangled, being drilled to death was sexy but ...OK. It's an unfair criticism on Heavy Rain that just shows how immature viewers are, yet if you take the story seriously it's really not as bad as people claim and all has context within the game.

RE: The Free Thread *gaming related*
Cody, my point was almost every segment with Madison in it was, in one way or another, some kind of sexual fetish. And yes, some of her segments can be avoided if the player isn't an idiot, but those moments are still in the game.
Also, taking everything into context just shows how stupid the story of the game was anyway. Yet, again, the game is praised as some work of art by some people, despite the story being very boring and rather predictable, save for the killer's identity, which is the biggest problem with the game.

Regardless, though, the God of War thing is idiotic to complain about, since Kratos kills countless people/animals/monsters/gods.

RE: The Free Thread *gaming related*
But the Madisons parts of the game aren't intentionally meant to be fetish, it's just people being silly about it. I mean, really, being tied down and being drilled in the body is sexy? And again if it was a male, would the reaction have been the same? I thought the story was OK but the voice acting was meh.

I gotta agree with Cody here. If the guy had been bound and gagged, no one would be saying anything. I never really felt there was any "fetish" going on there.

In any case, I just don't see why video games as a medium are always over analyzed. If someone felt the God of War thing was bad, go check Joy from Bayonetta. Oh, wait, it's a woman killing a woman so it's totally okay. Nevermind the totally obvious sexualized content. No, I'm not being a moral guardian here, far from it. Just putting things to perspective.

I have to disagree. Even if Madison was a guy, I'd still find it terrible and tasteless.

You gotta realize, that is a fetish. Everything is a fetish.
