My "mom" does it (it's in quotations because it's a long story that I'm not getting into) and it annoys me. She has even done it around me multiple times and I've even gotten contact high.

I think all drugs are bad. Anything. They're the root of all evil (ok, maybe not that extreme, but they do cause a lot of crimes).

Dude have you ever talked to your mom about not doing it around you, 'cause if you're that opposed to it and you haven't said anything to her, you probably should. I mean if I knew you in real life and I knew you didn't want any part in it, I would at least leave the room and go do it somewhere else, but at the same time I'm not sure how understanding of a person she is.

I don't talk to her anymore. I have told her everything that she has done wrong in my life, but she chooses to deny it.. all of it. She's never done anything wrong (as she claims).

And I choose to not talk to her until she admits her faults. I haven't seen her in at least 3-4 years. The last time I talked to her was on my birthday (which was nearly 9 months ago now).

I see...well this is clearly not my business, so I'm not gonna tell you how to handle your family issues.

Tried it once. Not my cup of tea. Was somehow talked into walking through fire in my boxers. Ah, youth.

Her relationship with all of her kids are either very very small, or none at all. I'm not the only one. But thanks.

That is a very reasonable reason, (I know how redundant that sounds) and I can respect that; I have yet to do something really stupid whilst I'm high.

If you'd said that from the very beginning... Wink

On a relevant note, I'd like to hear people's opinions on these so-called "legal highs" - legal drugs you can buy that have a similar effect to illegal drugs.
I know that they're legal in the UK though I've never thought of asking the folk here in North America if they're allowed and what the general opinion is.

I haven't and I won't. I frankly don't care if someone does smoke weed, as long as they keep their shit scent away.

There are some "legal highs" here in America, personally I don't want to try the ones I know of because they just don't seem good for you at all, the two I know of are "whip its" (smoke it and your vision gets really messed up for like 30 seconds) and "bath salts". (It's the drug that guy was on down in Florida last year when he was eating that guy's face) I don't wanna try either because whip its actually got a person in my school killed, because some retard was taking whip its while he was driving with three other people in the car, one of them being the person from my school, and bath salts...just no.

RE: Who here smokes weed?
I smoked weed for daily for eleven years, but right now I'm on day three of quitting. Not by choice, but I really don't want to lose my job. I feel this is something that should be discussed, especially since come November, we can vote to legalize it on a federal level. For me, it was what my friends and I did while playing games, or before we went to the movies, or just because. Also it was a stress reliever. I physically cannot handle alcohol, and since both of my parents are alcoholics with addictions to coke and crack, I think I'm doing alright for myself, considering I never even smoked a cigarette in my life. It is easy to frown upon something that is culturally rejected such as weed, but a lot of people (not everyone) just hate on it to jump on a band wagon. Marijuana helped build this country, just remember that.

I agree with the rest but I want some elaboration on that, 'cause if you're just saying that to make it look good and you don't have reasons behind saying it, it makes us all look stupid man.

To tell you people the truth.I actually have a phobia of drugs.Hell, i get a little scared drinking alcohol for that matter.

Now for my opinion:

I don't care that anyone do drugs as long as they don't try to make do drugs.I can't stand them for some reason.Well that is just me.

Tobacco and marijuana were cash crops that built this nations. Our founding fathers and the native Americans before them would partake in the smoke. Also, the Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper.

That's just off the top of my head. I'm not in the habbit of saying things without evidence.

Alright just so you know and I will put sources down for my info the Declaration of Independence was written on parchment, (animal skin used as paper: second question in this Source) I bet there were plantations of marijuana back then but it was never a major cash crop that built the nation, and there is no proof that the founding fathers smoked weed at any point, now that doesn't mean they didn't, there just isn't documentation of it, and Native Americans yes they smoke it but they didn't build the country so it's kinda irrelevant. (The part about the founding fathers is kinda like you have to take my word when I tell a story about something in my life, but for all you know I could be lying, because I have no actual proof to back up my story.)

Don't let people just tell you things man, research it and confirm it for yourself. I mean when I started smoking weed I went and did my research on it's effects short and long term and I made sure that anything that was said was legitimate and not just a lie, so I knew what I was getting myself into before I kept doin' it. After my research I thought that the risk was worth the reward as long as I was cautious, hence why I don't get high very often, maybe twice or three time a month.

RE: Who here smokes weed?
As stupid as this sounds, I don't know how to attach links to different sites into a post, otherwise I would.

Where the Declaration itself wasn't written on hemp paper, the rough draft was. Franklin grew it, then used his mill to make it into paper. Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson also grew it. Washington grew marijuana as well, and openly promoted its growth. He, of course wasn't alone in this.

Like I said, I don't just say things. I may have been off on the details, but I wasn't completely wrong. Drugs didn't start becoming illegal in this country until the early 20th century, so the fact that early Americans were getting bombed isn't too surprising.
