Stephen King is amazing if you get buried in his books, with the night light on, of course.
Other than that, I've always loved the LOTR trilogy, Harry Potter and the Lightning Thief series in that order, and I love finding the fiction section and randomly picking up a book, then reading the whole thing and judging. Found some great novels that way, as well as some terrible romances....
Terrible.

YEAH! Except I'm not sure of my teachers position on the whaling chapters. Actually I'm not even quite sure of what you're talking about.

I haven't read it yet but..
there is a big portion of the book dedicated to Ishmal's revenge on whales...and the whaling chapters explain how to...catch a whale.

Knowing my teacher, he'll probably want some sort of paper that explains what you think of the whole thing.

Oh..well I have to read it for my school's academic team. Each member is assigned two books to read and then we have to write something called a "Major Works Analysis" and bring it in...we pretty much need to know the books like the back of our hand just in case we get asked about it at a meet.

I just had visions of trivia and candy at the same time. Sounds like heaven.

Has anyone here read "Ready Player One"? It's a seriously amazing book, I would recommend it with the burning passion of a thousand exploding suns.

RE: Is anyone a reader here?
Martin Amis has written two books I genuinely love, and a few that I think are great. He's, for better or worse, an elder statesman of literature, what with his dad being amazing and all. I personally think he's going downhill a bit at the moment, though.

Anyway, I've read all his books apart from his guide to video games written in the Space Invaders era. I would kill to read this book.
