The Legendary Best Console Question

This had to happen on a gaming forum, I would love to know your inputs on the matter. I for one think that PS3 is the better console right now, I mean sure it was hacked, but they fixed it and gave us 2 free games. So tell me what you guys think.

If so I think Xbox 360. I don't really have any reasoning behind this, it's just the console I enjoy the most.

I really wish you did not make this, it draws out the console war people and while I understand the purpose of this thread was and I just hope it doesn't start that stuff up.

OT: I have been a Sony fan all my life but that is not really why I choose the PS3. The console has had the same issues as the 360 and they both have their own unique exclusive titles, however the PS3 can play blu ray movies and has free online where as XBL does not. I do admit the 360 is rather nice but from what I have seen on my friends account and online games, the community was sort of rude (yes I am sure the same can be said for the PS3 however I tend to avoid online communities for that reason)
If only the slim PS3 could be backwards compatible with PS2 games.
I think it also needs a few more Move games

WHY MUST IT HAPPEN?
Based solely on personal experience, I'd have to go with the Wii due to the fact that the games were fun, the style was simple and elegant, the online is free (however limited..grr nintendo), and it gave me a reason NOT to use my pc for games. I mean, so many huge titles for the 360 and PS3 are also available on the PC, but that's scarcely the case with Nintendo, giving us more incentive to actually use it.

I don't think there is a definite "best console", different people are going to enjoy different parts of any consoles.

The Wii, not because of the stupid motion controls but because of the games. It had a small library of amazing games if you ignore all the shovelware (is that the term). But also the backwards compatibility of the Wii gave it the best games across the generations with ful backwards compatibility with all gamecube titles, and VC for the best games on a wide variety of older systems, although the N64 library was lacking in quantity.

Yeah, the legal rights really screwed up the Virtual console (no Earthbound or Rare software, way to go Microsoft).

I think every consoles are great. I like the PS3 because of the nice graphics and the free PSN. I also like the Wii because of the fact it's a great game to play with other people. I like the Xbox because of the awesome online experience. See? Everything is great with the consoles ^_^

Plus, each consoles has it's own type of game, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Gears Of War or Ratchet and Clank!

A 'best console' does not exist. What does exist however is the preference if each gamer. I for one, prefer the Wii the most basically because I can play with absolutely anybody with it. Hardcore gamer friends? Legend of Zelda. Family? Any of the party Wii games. It's basically the most flexible in terms of audience.

Like others here, in the current-gen I'd say PS3. But overall, I'd go with GameCube or Wii.

I own both an XBOX 360 and a PS3. I will generally buy non-exclusives on 360 because I find the controller more comfortable to hold. The only exception is if it's going to be on multiple discs on the 360, in which case I'll buy it for the PS3. I hate disc swapping.
