Game Grumps!

I don't know how many of you watch JonTron, but he was the narrator of the Zelda DYKG video. If you haven't seen his videos, I highly reccomend you check him out, because he's hilarious. Especially his Top Ten lists. But recently, he started up a gaming with everybody's favorite Newgrounds user, Egoraptor. The channel is called Game Grumps. It consists of an EXTREMELY catchy ten second intro song, Ego and Jon playing through games, and making jokes about them and getting off track all the time. For right now, they're playing Megaman 7, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Kirby Super Star. Lots of laughs are to be had with these two as we venture forth through these games with them.

I don't find these videos as funny as Two Best Friends (Odd since it's JonTron and Egoraptor) but it's still pretty enjoyable to watch.

You should definitely check out "Zero Punctuation". Extremely funny, snide, and bizarre game reviews with a lovely Australian accent.

Since this is about dudes playing games, I'm moving this to the video game section. I hope you don't mind.

ANYWAY MY OPINION.

I'm a fan of both Egoraptor and JonTron, but Game Grumps seems a bit.. Dull? Both of them are funny guys, still they seems to force out jokes at exactly everything all the time. It seems like they're trying too hard to be funny, like they are in a competition with eachother. My other issue is that both of them often act like they have barely ANY experience with video games at all. I'm pretty sure that JonTron is pretending to be a lot worse than he actually is when he plays Zelda: AlttP.

As I said before I'm a fan of both but they're not quite there yet. Both of them just need to calm down and play games. I think the jokes will come naturally. Just hearing them talk would be interesting since Egoraptor has a really good sense for game design and JonTron knows a lot about games overall (as far as I've seen).

Well they DO talk about the game or games but a lot of the time they are making jokes and it really is a whole lot of fun. Made me laugh quite a lot too. I am sure they will get into the swing of things later on.
Also JonTron playing ALttP makes me rip my hair out, but his jokes and laughter make me magically regrow my hair.

Yeah pretty much this. It's in no way bad, but it doesn't seem to be leading to anything. It's more of them playing a game and talking over it. Compared to two best friends is a "montage" of them going through the game or Continue who play through the game and grade it. Hopefully over time they'll have a more concrete structure to it.

From knowing him personally I can confirm JonTron is shit at LTTP.

Also, DYKG got a mention in the newest episode.

Yeah they are both engaging but this it's just kind of aimless.

I thought from the concept they'd be bitching about specific things in games that they hate, rather than just doing Let's Plays (which I'm not a big fan of anyway, unless it's a game I really don't want to suffer through myself).

I also reacted to DYKG getting mentioned. It feels cool since I can't help but to identify myself with DYKG since I became an admin at the forum. Feels cool, man.

I like Egoraptor, and I like JonTron.
But meh, this series is abit bland.

Personally, I don't think either of them are exactly suited for "improv", or just non-scripted. When they know what they're going to be saying, they're fucking hilarious, but when they're just goofing around I find it sort of lacking, although Egoraptor makes some great points in the Link to the Past videos.
