Gadgets and technology etc

I'm pretty behind the times. I have a knackered old laptop which I use for browsing, but I have to shovel coal into its furnace now and then. I'm still probably going to get a tablet in the near future, feel free to call me an idiot. What do you all think are the best of the gadgety things around these days?

I personally think most "gadgets" are very pointless because usually whatever they do is already done by other things probably the most useful and practical thing when it comes to technology is smart phones they do so many things allowing you so much convenience because they do so many things while also allowing you to contact people (in several forms) it just seems like most other things aren't as capable as a smart phone I mean it basically does everything that you would need to do on a daily basis when it comes to technology.

Well I tried to find out exactly what this is and what it does but failed and because you obviously live somewhere in Europe which is where it originated perhaps you could enlighten me as to what exactly it is and does? Also I'm gonna take a wild guess that you live somewhere near London if not in London.

Yeah, I live near London. It was one of those "press the red button on your TV remote" things. It was Teletext vs Ceefax.

so basically it's like a real-time forum on your T.V.? That seems kinda pointless but I guess having the conversation update in real-time could be convenient and this basically seems like something for people who like to be social and can't afford the internet, but can afford T.V.

I love the direction smartphones are taking, which is making sure I can do most of my stuff from it. But I wouldn't mind a smartphone with actual buttons and not touchscreen.. They're not as responsive and I keep pressing the wrong button.

Other than that I don't really care so much about Gadgets or technology. My computer is alright. I'm looking into buying a Kindle, but that's about it.

Technology Gadgets revolutionized the entire world with their unique applications. Smart phones are well developed to provide the user friendly applications where we can find all the required stuff.

One of the best "gadgets" I've seen in the last few months. Definitely going to get one.




Obviously I could list a lot of the Gadget Shows(U.K TV Programme) but I think this is one of the best I've seen.

The minitel was one of the best gadgets ever - it allowed us to use internet years before internet was invented

I used to be very good at keeping up with gadgets, back when all the average family owned was one desktop, the parents had pagers, and cordless phones were a big deal. As technology grew, I kept up pretty well. I figured out AOL and Napster, I got my first Nokia brick at the age of 16. Then suddenly, around the age of 21 or so (I think), technology started moving faster than I could keep up with. Every type of technology (phone, cell phones, computers, etc.) suddenly had 40 different brands, and those brands had 100 different types of said technology, and those types had 200 different styles. Eventually I just got tired.

While I don't like owning anything that's smarter than me or knows where I am all the time, I do have a nice laptop and smartphone, as they were given as gifts. But that's as far as i'd like to go. I enjoy having old gaming systems on my small tv, no house phone, real books, and it even took me 2 1/2 years of living by myself before I even got channels for my tv.

i used to love having different gadgets but more and more everything is built into one...your phone - games/music/movies/internet/camera/gps/etc. its annoying for people like me who liked having different things but i cant imagine not having a smartphone now.

This is pretty much my main reason for favouring BlackBerry over iPhone. Yeah, I can bang on about the way they handle data forever, but... I just like the keyboards.
