I'm scared of insects.

When I was young (before first grade O_O), there was an infestation on ladybugs that just wouldn't stop (IN CANADA.) Even if I tried to hide myself, there were swarms and swarms of insects going on me everywhere. Their paws going on my skin is the most terrible experience in my life

As for what I am afraid of, it varies. A lot of my deep personal fears come from a history of trauma and psychological abuse so i'll keep those separate, but some of my more "reasonable" fears include:
- Mirrors (in dark): Rationally, I know the Boogeyman isn't going to be in the reflection, but I still can't look at them.
- Portraits (in dark): I have poor vision in one eye which leads me to see things 20/20 with one eye, but fuzzy in the other. In dim light this causes the illusion that the eyes/mouths of the people in the pictures are moving and it creeps me out.
- Mushrooms/fungi: It's not so much looking at a picture of one, but being close to them, as I have this feeling in my head that in doing so I'll get spores on me and they'll grow. I understand that some mushrooms are intended for food and are "safe" and I can pick those off of pizzas and stuff, but wild ones scare the hell out of me.



A funny fear-related story I'd like to share happened to me when I stayed with my friend and his father out on their ranch. The guest room had the following: a large mirror and a painting of the Virgin Mary's face. Of course, at night this was going to bother me, so I covered the mirror with a sheet and took the painting down and turned it around. I intended to fix these when I left, but forgot. Weeks later my friend tells me "my dad thinks you're weird" and then tells me that I left the sheet over the mirror and the painting down.

I'm sure his father thinks I am a vampire or something.

I honestly don't understand why you're the weird one in this. I mean scary-looking stuff is scary, right?

Just to keep it simple and a bit weird... I'm really scared of falling over and/or dropping hot drinks on myself. No idea why.

Also, public speaking. I honestly think I'd vomit if I had to speak in front of a crowd.

I'm willing to bet if it was NOT a painting of the Virgin Mary at best I would've gotten a laugh. It's the unintended sacrilege that I think confused them. (They're religious but not devout.)

Still, I think you did the right thing, man. If you left it as it was you'd probably still be there, welcoming someone else into the house and chanting "gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you, one of us" or something.

I have a weird phobia of Jellyfish and Octopi and other creatures of the sea similar to this.. I have this fear that they will latch and sting and bite and suck and UHHH hate it. Would rather fight a shark then a big octopus... Maybe it stems from playing metroid as a kid? That would be cool

'Normal' people scare me. They are just so.... boring and..... sterile. I also get a weird vibe from people who are abnormally happy or who smile too much.

CFMM - NO! That's MY plane ticket to Japan! Just because I might have every orifice invaded is no reason not to go
