Persona 4 DYK

In the opening to the original Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, character Rise Kujikawa performs part of the Hare Hare Yukai dance from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime.

Well, to summarize very briefly, you're a guy (you get to name him yourself. I named him Ikki in my playthrough.) who's just moved to a small town named Inaba and you're rooming with your uncle, Detective Ryotaro Dojima. A string of mysterious murders start happening and your uncle is on the job.
However, the strangeness continues. After a weird dream, you meet up with your friends Yosuke and Chie. Chie tells you to watch the "Midnight Channel" on a rainy day. Basically, you turn on the TV and you're said to find your true love. Instead, you get sucked into the Television! A whole new world opens up and you think it may have something to do with the murders. While inside, you also realize the true potential of the Persona. Manifest spirits who help you to face the world around you. They aid you greatly in battle with the Shadows that plague the world.

Also, Hare Hare Yukai is the ending of Haruhi. When I first watched the opening to P4 I was actually surprised to see it snuck in.

No problem. It's a great game, even though it has a few flaws. Worth checking out for sure, especially if you like role playing games.

The movements are identical to the ones in Hare Hare Yukai, but the dance itself is reminiscent of something from Para Para. A picture doesn't quite do it justice, as it helps to look at them in movement.

Opening

Hare Hare Yukai

Also, Persona 4 was made when TMoHS was gaining popularity.

Well, yeah, they do look alike. I just don't think it has anything to do with Hare Hare Yukai. It would make sense if it was just supposed to be Para Para dancing since Rise is a popstar.
