Sonic the Hedgehog
In a deleted scene from Sonic Triple Trouble, Nack pulls out a Pistol and shoots Sonic. After Sonic is shot the scene disappears, but Sonic seems to be alive as the cutscene is right before a level. This was later removed for the final product of the game.

RE: Sonic the Hedgehog
There's also an added text file which was apparently part of the cutscene.
Nack: I'm from the future and I'm here to shoot you to stop '06 from happening.

In the Human Genome, Chromosome 7 has a Gene which was named "Sonic hedgehog-homolog" or SHH. This and other genes were given more professional sounding names because they were considered insensitive to those who suffer from mutations of these genes.

A potential inhibitor of the Hedgehog signaling pathway has been found and dubbed 'Robotnikinin', in honor of Sonic the Hedgehog's nemesis, Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.
