Goldeneye
The first thing I remember from Goldeneye is this:

Quote:The Klobb machine gun was originally called Spyder. Also the name of the gun is a reference to Nintendo's great game designer Ken Lobb.

If some one can confirm this for me since my memory is a bit foggy on Ken Lobb's position @ the big N back then.

Quote:Remote mines in the game could be blown without having to switch to the remote trigger, all you had to do was press A + B on the controller to trigger them to blow up (default control layout). You could blow them up in mid-air too

Now, I do not know if it was actually possible to reproduce this on regular terms, but sometimes during multiplayer someone would become completely immune to rocket launcher rockets. They were unharmed by DIRECT rocket explosions to the body frame. You could however kill them by blowing it on the ground next to them.

Also, sometimes grenade launchers would just go straight through the floor in some levels like Complex.

Does someone remember how to do the dual wield glitch? The one where you could dual wield any weapon when the All Weapons cheat was enabled. There were 2 ways to do it. If I remember correctly one was the normal slow way of emptying a gun and pausing the game as the gun went down to reload, but there was another way.

I think it involved emptying both guns, then as they went down you'd hold Z and then press the weapon cycle button. Please someone confirm this.

Now, if only I could find my N64...

PS: Please qualify accordingly what could count as facts and what not. I just threw out random Goldeneye things I remember.

RE: Goldeneye
That first Klobb fact is dead-on accurate, but I'm not too sure the others are worthy of their own DYKG.

GoldenEye was a beast of a game; easily qualifying for one of the top first person shooters of all time, if not the best. Multiplayer was a blast.

A couple of years ago I found a great, very professional website full of in-depth easter eggs. It's long gone by now, but my personal favorite was the All Bonds cheat. At one point in the development of the game, you were supposed to be able to play as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan (but no George Lazenby) in multiplayer. Unfortunately, Rare took them out; except for Brosnan, of course. The general theory of why they were taken out was because of legal issues, although it was never explained by Rare in detail. Probably the best evidence for the cheat actually existing is that you can see Sean Connery in one of the multiplayer screenshots if you look in your GoldenEye 007 instruction manual that comes with the game. It also probably helps that Rare officially acknowledges that it exists, but whatever.

If you use a Gameshark, you can find their multiplayer portraits in the game. The textures for their suits and faces were also still in the game and made available with a bunch of tools/ROM editors, but the models were gone. It's very interesting, I would have loved to play as Connery versus Moore.

RE: Goldeneye
I can vouch for Dean on that, but here are 2 other cool facts.

In the game there is a hidden level called Citadel, which can only be accessed through a gameshark. Apparently it was used as a test level, if you were to check it out it had various mechanics in the level that would be used throughout the game.

-------

Another cool fact is that you can unlock more than 64 characters, including a terrorist =P
After unlocking the additional 64 characters enter these corresponding keys and you will unlock more:
L-R + Left C
L + Up C
L-R + Left
L + Right
R + Down
L-R + Left C
L + Up C
L-R + Right
L-R + Down C
L + Down

Other then the Ken Lobb fact. (Which is interesting) Everything else is just a cheat...

RE: Goldeneye
Even thought all the Bonds are in the game (except for that one), to actually use them you needed a Gameshark as far as I know.

RE: Goldeneye
Yes you require a gameshark to access the other bonds, the reason for this is because the originally intended for each of the four save files to be a different bond, but do to copy-write issues they were unable to legally. They didn't remove the coding from the game so you are able to be all of the bonds.
