One Piece and I...we don't go well together. I disliked it. I can't explain why but I just don't enjoy the series.

I also disliked it at first but since I downloaded it already I turned it on to pass out to as I went to bed. It became my all time favorite show.

Edit: I feel that anyone who loves DBZ or Naruto will also love onepiece if they wait until at least episode 100, which is asking for alot but totally worth it. I doubt anyone has watched that far and hated it as a fan of dbz/naruto.

As you can tell im quite the mainstream anime whore, I've tried mid popular anime's like Lupan the Third, Code Geass and Deadman Wonderland. And they were all good but far from the more mainstream ones.

(For me)Devil's Fruit is the super power that gives us the characters. I always saw it as, "how can we add an opponent who can actually cause havok" and thus they need someone to rival Luffy (enemies with the Devil Fruit). As for my personal experience with the Anime, I haven't watched it in about 4 or so years. They stopped showing it on TV(I think) so I dropped out of watching it. I got the the end of Vivi and Crocodile but never saw the ending. I will end up going back to it but the amount of episodes it has is insane.

wow wow wow..... You watch it in english? (T.V.) Awful..awful decision. Unlike dragonball z the quality of this show drops DRAMATICALLY in it's English dub releases. I strongly STRONGLY recommend starting over and getting from here

It's not just intense censorship..but giant plot points overlooked and jokes skipped over...also in the 4kids dub (The most common TV dub back in the day), which I pray you didnt see, they completely skip some smaller arcs! don't even attempt to dub them! and Sanji has a lolipop instead of a smoke!?! haha I wonder what the hell captain smoker had... two lolipops?!?!

^ Wait... Didn't Funimation rescue One Piece? I really don't like them, nor do I care for their voice casting choices, but it's better than 4Kids and they don't censor.

After all the f-bombs and such they added to Panty and Stocking I'm just really confused as to why they'd alter One Piece.

I was more of a casual watcher really. So if I missed anything, meh. I also don't care (much) for kiddie changes. It's stupid because it's like changing the guns in GTA to Beanie Babies so everyone can play it. But that's not what the game/anime is for. It's supposed to have blood and brutal fights. Then again I also don't care when people think that having blood in an Anime makes it better. Much like how people think they're hardcore for playing a game with blood. It adds nothing, so I'll watch the Anime as long as they don't butcher it, and One Piece didn't feel butchered.

Also, I prefer English (most of the time) than Japanese. I don't watch all these new-kid bullshit Animoos but from the voices I've heard...oh my are they annoying (Naruto, Lucky Star etc). Mature Animes like Ghost in the Shell or anything early 1990s and before have great voice acting. Mature and well voiced.

Okay so we got One Piece, now to change onto another semi mainstream anime: Case Close.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite Anime, the characters are all so interesting as is the art style. The music that plays (intro/outro/in the middle of a scene) is jazzy and suites the whole noir-esque feel that they try to make the anime. The show is over 20 seasons long in Japan and I am so upset that they stopped dubbing the anime (yes I watched it in it's dubbed form on Adult Swim back when AS was actually decent.)

The story (from what I redeemer) is pretty straightforward and aside from plenty of filler episodes (they make sure you understand WHY there is filler episodes) this is just a great series and I always liked figuring out how the murderer did the crime.

So what do you all think of Case Closed?

That's nothing compared to DBZ Kai (perfect example of Animes being butchered so it can appeal to an audience it wasn't intended for)

You might think this because with Japanese voice acting unless you speak Japanese you can't tell when they emote wrong or mess up words and only the sound of the voice has to fit the part in subs really for it to be good.

Also Xannidel, you do know that Cartoon Network brought back Toonami for their anime block right? So far 2 good new animes have been on there, (Samurai 7 and Casshern Sins) and there is another new one but I'm choosing not to watch it for fear it will be bad. (there was a fourth one but it was unfinished because the anime went bad in Japan and only had one season.)

Thats a good point, though I literally ment the sound and pitch not the "acting" I guess. Guys with badass voices sound like tools.

Also BumblebeeCody it wasn't just censorship, alot of the plot itself as well if you watched the 4kids dub (which you most likely did it was the most common)

OK cool. So you're saying it would be best if I start watching One Piece again in Japanese or uncut English to the get the full story-as I may have missed a lot?
