Welcome to the former forums for DidYouKnowGaming?! In March of 2013, VGFacts was launched and this community was merged into the new forums there. These forums were originally taken offline at that time but I brought them back as an archive while transferring sites to the new server. Registrations and all interaction (posting, editing, moderation, etc.) are disabled but everything can still be read. If you're interested in joining the community, head on over to https://www.vgfacts.com/forums/ and join there but I've always thought it was important to preserve a site's roots so these forums will forever be available in this read-only state. Enjoy!

Castlevania has a connection to Dungeons & Dragons
The cover artwork for Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1988) seems to be inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft Module (1983).

Strangely, however, the PAL version of the game removes Dracula:

For clarity's sake, the 2nd picture in this is the AD&D module's cover art. Given the description, I wasn't sure which was supposed to be the module's art until looking up the module itself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenloft

You mean it's the exact same one? Then why is Dracula's head turned in Simon's Quest as opposed to Ravenloft, among other minor things?

Your first picture appears broken to me, so when I wrote this, I completely missed that there was a placeholder for an image. My count (*rimshot*) is off as a result.
