The cover artwork for Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1988) seems to be inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft Module (1983).

Strangely, however, the PAL version of the game removes Dracula:

For clarity's sake, the 2nd picture in this is the AD&D module's cover art. Given the description, I wasn't sure which was supposed to be the module's art until looking up the module itself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenloft

You mean it's the exact same one? Then why is Dracula's head turned in Simon's Quest as opposed to Ravenloft, among other minor things?

Your first picture appears broken to me, so when I wrote this, I completely missed that there was a placeholder for an image. My count (*rimshot*) is off as a result.
