Hidden Compatibility in Sega CD Games
[Image: us1.png]

Did you know that inserting a Sega CD game disc into a regular CD player, such as a compact stereo system, or game console that supports the Red Book audio standard, will enable one to hear the game's music, select voice clips and sound effects? Notable Sega CD games that allow this sort of audio playback are Sonic the Hegdehog CD and Silpheed, which are demonstrated in the following video:

The Vigilante 8 games (Vigilante 8, V8 - Second Offense) both used CD audio tracks for their games as well, as well as many other early CD-based games. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (I know this for the PS1 version of the game, can't confirm for the Saturn version) did the same thing, and even had a bonus music track (with an intro by the voice actor for Alucard giving you instructions on not to listen to the data on track 1) on the game disc for people that ended up popping SOTN in their CD players.

I heard that you hear some bizarre things if you put a copy of Seaman for the Dreamcast into a CD player.

Probably because I'm tired but I read that in a really dirty way. I should probably give myself a warning on my profile just for thinking that.
