Notable Sega CD games that allow this sort of audio playback are Sonic the Hegdehog CD and Silpheed, which are demonstrated in the following video: RE: Hidden Compatibility in Sega CD Games - retrolinkx - 10-21-2012 08:07 AM The Dreamcast discs did something similar, viewing wallpapers and such, nothing this big though. RE: Hidden Compatibility in Sega CD Games - belthesar - 10-22-2012 12:22 PM The Vigilante 8 games (Vigilante 8, V8 - Second Offense) both used CD audio tracks for their games as well, as well as many other early CD-based games. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (I know this for the PS1 version of the game, can't confirm for the Saturn version) did the same thing, and even had a bonus music track (with an intro by the voice actor for Alucard giving you instructions on not to listen to the data on track 1) on the game disc for people that ended up popping SOTN in their CD players. I thought it was advertised? RE: Hidden Compatibility in Sega CD Games - Hexadecimal - 10-30-2012 11:40 AM I heard that you hear some bizarre things if you put a copy of Seaman for the Dreamcast into a CD player. Probably because I'm tired but I read that in a really dirty way. I should probably give myself a warning on my profile just for thinking that. |
