Need help with an Essay.

Okay, so I'll give you guys the short story, there is an opportunity to get a fifth A-Level in my school, all I have to do is write a 5000 word essay about something that will help me in my career or something interesting in general.

What I would like to do is about Video Games, since I'd like to start a career in that, I am wondering what would be something good to write about, right now I'm thinking of something that would grab people's attention, like "How Woman are portrayed in Video Games?" or "Are we heading for the second greatest Video Game Crash?"

I would really like some help in what to write.

Also, I DON'T have to do Video Games, it can be about ANYTHING, so if you really want to give idea's pertaining, to what I want to do or not, at least post, I'd love to write about something interesting.

And my deep experience,when i did an essay,you got to research the past so you may get a better understanding of what may become of the future.So theses will probably help you

I suggest doing a a history on a gaming console themselve and how it evolve to 8-Bit and what eventually became a 3 Dimensional games like Team Fortress or Call of duty or war of warcraft or something along that line.

Right now, my I might talk about "Another Gaming Crash" even though something more along the lines of "Woman in Video Games" would be a better subject due to it being 2 subjects in one.

With the deadline for entry of the topic, I would like to get some opinions on my choice.

The one thing I would like to write about is "Are we heading for another Video Game Crash"

I could talk about the start and then crash of video games, and then the rebirth in the late 80's/early 90's and then the flourish in late 90's/early 2000's, then the decline starting in this gen, and how if this persists we will be heading for another crash.

Even though this may not seem interesting to some, I would still like some ideas/thoughts/opinions.

Hell this marvelous,what would top it off if you had one with those ¨studies have shown...¨ types of thing.Teachers loves those stuff. Now you can make a thread(probably with voting option too) and ask the user that if its possible thst there could be another video game crash so you can get a better understanding of what might happen.this could also help you make another paragraph. Hope this helps you out

Hmm, it's still a possibility, but I've got another idea.

After a look at another forums ideas, I may change this to "How the media portrays Video Games as
Violent"

As the Media portray it negatively, and studies have shown that there has been a decline in vidya game violence, and I can vouch for my own personal experience on the matter.

Anybody have any ideas on this one?

You should write about how so many games have sort of melded into the lackluster gritty realistic FPS genre that studios shit out every year, and compare it to the similarities and lack of creativity that in part led to the original video game crash.

But yeah, as Arjahn says, definitely mention the annual-fart-games that are, in many people's opinion, sinking the industry.

It wasn't really lack of creativity that led to the crash, but the abundance of consoles and the fact that, back then, the programmers/designers of the games barely got paid for their work. The companies liked to screw the people who made their games and barely gave them any recognition for their hard work.

And since the current companies don't do that (with some minor exceptions, but the workers usually just quit to form their own game studios), I doubt any crash will ever occur in our lifetimes or possibly ever again. And also, the current game market is as strong as ever, and grows each year. All of this culminates in a strong community for games, so again, very highly doubt any crash will happen again.

If you're talking about how the media portrays violent-video-games:violence causality, you could talk for pages about how apparently all gamers are prone to murdering everyone because they play violent video-games.

See, I was probably going to talk about how they lie and blow it out of proportion, when it really isn't that bad, and also talk about how certain games actually make people less violent from playing it. Then go on to how it's usually parents who are too stupid to understand video game ratings and then wonder why their child has done something violent, as well as being a bad parent that makes a child do this.
