Donkey Kong 64
At the very beginning of the game when you start in Donkey Kong's cabin; you can look around and find various nods to his previous games such as girders, the grammophone and stereo from Donkey Kong Country.

On one wall is a picture of a dolphin. This is one of the earliest references to the Gamecube's codename at the time - the "Dolphin"

That's pretty cool. But is it an actual reference to The Dolphin? Had the codename been established then?

Wasn't there a dolphin animal you could ride in a previous game? That could be it also.

No worries haha. Been playing DK64 a bit lately after watching king of kong; this is pretty interesting too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2vm8vgHXWM
