Jobs! What do you do?
So early last week I filled out an application for Outback and a girl I know who works there told me there was a hostess position open and was going to give a good word for me. So I decided to drive down to the restaurant on Friday and talk to the manager. Apparently, the manager thought it was ironic that I dropped by because he pulled my application and was going to call me on Monday. Now it's Sunday, and he called me earlier than expect...now instead of being called tomorrow..my INTERVIEW is actually tomorrow.

Long story short, I am pretty sure I am getting this job, however, any advice for the interview? This is my first one and I don't want to mess it up!

And just so this doesnt last like...3-4 posts...what are some job experiences you had or currently have? I'm curious!

RE: Jobs! What do you do?
Right now I'm bussing tables for a cafe that's a 3 minute walk from my house, which is nice, although I can't wear a T Shirt which makes me sad.

#STUPIDFUCKINGHASHTAGHERE
Although right now there are thousands of innocent children around the world starving to death... so I'm feeling pretty spiffy about my life at the moment.

I work at Little Caesars. It sucks. It's better than no job, but it's really not an enjoyable place to work.

RE: Jobs! What do you do?
I have no job. I have never worked one day in my life.

At least, not for a pay-check.

I need a job urgently.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Because that's what I do, actually.

RE: Jobs! What do you do?
My old job had my working in a warehouse moving food stock and emptying the lorries. Wet, cold and dark conditions (but that's warehouse work for you). Shifts from around 06:00 to 14:00, 14:00 to 22:00 or 22:00 to 06:00 (Not when I had college or Uni that morning however. Sometimes working in the freezer. Tiring as heck but a good "workout". Had no issues being there. Got hurt a bit and was generally good (funny how people bitch about their jobs which isn't even hard or that interesting).
Only reason I don't have a job now (the last 3 months) is because I worked for an agency, who hired me to work in a warehouse. I went to work often and had a pay increase which obviously meant I was kinda expensive. Also adding to the fact they wanted me in during the times I had Uni exams so I had to decline quite often.. I liked it though. Enjoyable work that was actual work. A lot of Polish people but no dick'eads and was nice to work in a "straight-to-it" type of job.
Currently looking for a new job though. I'm not giving up and I'm putting myself out there to get a job. Big Grin

RE: Jobs! What do you do?
I work as a night staff/visitation staff at a funeral home. It's actually not as bad as you might think. I'm entering my final days at one funeral home (if you look up the word 'dickshit' in the dictionary, you should find a copy of my manager's birth certificate, so I quit), but I'm going to be starting at another one soon.

Prior to that, I worked at a Dairy Queen for two years, and it wasn't that great. But I guess I shouldn't complain too much, free ice cream and all that shat.[/quote]

RE: Jobs! What do you do?
I am a licensed hairdresser, but I don't work in a salon anymore. It sucks because i'm really good at it. There's no money in it, I couldn't pay my bills or buy groceries, people don't tip, and people are assholes. So now I work for my family in an office. I still don't make much, but it's more than twice as much as being a hairdresser. I can pay all my bills AND buy food AND go do stuff. I just do hair on the side now, only for people I like. And I can wear what I want and not be on my feet for 12 hours with no lunch break.

My advice, kids- Don't follow your dream. Work in a cubicle until you die. You get weekends off, vacation time, sick time, and insurance and benefits. You don't realize how awesome those things are until you don't have them anymore.

You know that bothers me because I always tip, and I think everyone should considering how important a haircut is. My haircut costs $13, and I always round up to $20, sometimes $25 if the girl's boobs touched my head a few times. Tongue

I work for Walgreens, as a Photo Team Specialist. I had been working there full time, but when they didn't offer me a shift leader position and a head photo specialist job instead, I declined the offer (barely a pay raise and double the work) and reduced my schedule to work only weekends.

My wife works full time now and I sit at home with the kids, taking care of the house and writing for Examiner.com, where I make enough money to pay my Cable/Electric each month, which is perfect as it gives me a reason to sit at home and play with the kids and watch TV all day.

Then I go in to Walgreens on the weekends, show up everyone there and make a little pocket change. Yes, right now life is good. Only took thirty god damn years to make it happen.
