Anyone here into wood carving?
I ask because, I'm getting an early start on halloween, and I want to craft The Riddler's staff. I tough project for me, and I have very little tools. So if anyone has ever taken part in wood carving, I'm interested in what you have to say, maybe some tips, or even why I shouldn't be trying with such little tools.

RE: Anyone here into wood carving?
Well, I remember in DT once, the teacher wasn't it and we had a supply that didn't care what we did, so I took a very long and thick piece of wood, and carved it into a sword (mostly cutting, and sawing, but I sanded down the edges), unfortunately the handle didn't feel nice, and it broke when someone thought he could smash some wood with it. (I don't even know why...)

Still, I doubt I could've got out of school with it.

It is, when Kingdom Hearts came out on the PS2 I was very interested in making one. I was only like 12 or so when I wanted one so my dad and I made one.

N'aww that's awesome Big Grin
I remember making a wooden brainteaser puzzle when I was on exchange in Germany, so much fun, even though I now can't solve the puzzle

If you don't know already, one of the most important things you should do is sand. I would sand right after doing something to it, like cutting it. It makes the finshed project look nice. Oh, and always wear googles, you don't want anything in your eye trust me. You shouldn't leave running tools unattended, always wear shoes, try to keep your fingers, and now I'm starting to sound like my wood shop teacher.

Good luck

Yeah when I tried to tell my dad that there is a hand guard on BOTH sides of the handle he told me that would never work so we never made it look like an official keyblade but it is still one of my more memorable items that I own that is not technology based.

I can carve masks from wood. I love masks, they make me feel safe.
