The nostalgia thread
Yeah, I know it always gets boring talking about "when I was little" but y'know, at a certain point it always comes up. Let's get this done.

I get the weirdest feelings of nostalgia mingled with terrifying existential dread when I remember the strange Franco-Japanese cartoon Ulysses 31. It was cool, but somehow very bleak.

Being British myself, I have to mention white dogshit, which seemed prevalent in the 80s and early 90s and is probably a staple of sub-standard stand-up.

I had that same "bleak" feeling watching Zig and Zag or Renford Rejects. .... I don't even like Football but I still watched it.

In terms of cartoons that seemed pretty mature and...interesting (my Ulysses 31) was probably Outlaw Star.

Jesus, I'd forgotten about Zig and Zag.

Did you ever watch Round the Bend? I was really young when I watched it, so I may be alone in remembering it here. It was a gloriously bleak, toilet-humour type show, hosted by a crocodile in a sewer.

RE: The nostalgia thread
I watched some french shows based on belgium comic books. It sounds stupid, but it was pretty fun to watch. It was called "Billy The Cat".

Actually, I found a comic of it some months ago. I felt bad that it doesn't play anymore ._.

Hey, HEY, you're from Canada! I remember a cartoon of "the cat came back" from the National Canadian Film Board.

RE: The nostalgia thread
I have mixed feelings with nostalgia. I love it because it reminds of good memories. But I hate it because it just gives me a strange feeling that's hard to describe. Strange.

I know exactly what you mean. I get that feeling when I reminisce about the past. It's a feeling similar to feeling alone. It is, as you said, hard to describe.

Toonami was my childhood TV. (and I'm filled with all kinds of joy that Cartoon Network brought it back last May)
