Here's my top 10.

1. Resident Evil
2. Disgaea
3. Final Fantasy
4. Mortal Kombat
5. Metal Slug
6. Castlevania
7. Silent Hill
8. Grand Theft Auto
9. Command & Conquer
10. Double Dragon

I guess you could add Crash Bandicoot, Vigilante V8 and 19XX in there too.
