It's term for smugness.

Highbrow would be on the lines of:
Oh I love Citizen Kane because it's a complete master piece. Great screening writing blah blah. I truly understand the intricate film making. Requires the viewer to think about what they are watching

Lowbrow would be on the lines of:
I love Kung Pow because it's completely stupid with nonsensical fights and toilet humour that a typical un-educated person might find funny.
Requires the viewer to watch something silly and laugh


One for example for me is that I love the art piece "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". (HighBrow)
But I also love the tattoo industry and some of the pieces of work I've seen. Tattoos are "art" that those posh people would look down upon.
