Castlevania has a connection to Dungeons & Dragons

The cover artwork for Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1988) seems to be inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft Module (1983).

Strangely, however, the PAL version of the game removes Dracula:
