Joesph Stalin wasn't a nice person NOT because he was an athiest, but because he was your tyrant douchebag. Him being Athiest is the same as pointing out that he was also a meat eater. It's pointless to say that because it didn't have any backing reason/motivation behind what he did.

I see the same thing applied to everyone, so it's not an issue of which group is bad, it's an issue of people everywhere not being as tolerant as they should.

Well "those people" are missing the point and are most likely ignorant.
The point is, his motivation for being a douchebag wasn't because he was an athiest. He just happened to be one. If you consider his dictatorship to be the result of him being an athiest then that's just BS thinking. But reverse that and you have countless people who have killed others due to religious motivation.

Let me reverse it again. There are no doubt people who have killed in the name of a "lack of religious motivation." Hell, people will kill for any old reason. Someone somewhere said "As long as there are two people in this world, someone will want someone dead." Anything can be proper justification to the suitably-minded.
