So... I take it the conference didn't go well then.

It's just pandering to the mass market. They know that hardcore gamers are going to buy the PS4, so don't feel the need to try and woo them as much as people who may be attracted to this whole "social gaming" experience.
Mmm true. But that's such a bad start when you give more time to a button on a controller than the actual controller itself. It's like Nintendo going
"Oh well here we have this high definition touch screen which pretty makes this an extremely powerful DS and it can do this and do that BUT now, screw that. We know you care about the Netflix app so lets talk about that for 30 minutes".
That's what I love Nintendo conferences. It's all about games and then apps and downloads services are this after thought.
Sony and Microsoft are trying to make this super duper all-in-one media center that plays games.
My favorite part about Microsoft's conferences is that they're still trying to tell people about Kinect. It's so hilarious, it reminds me back in the time Xbox fanboys were laughing at Nintendo fanboys. Well WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?
Personally, I am laughing, not at the kinect, or the wii, or at the move, or motion controls, but at the insistence that they have in it becoming a mainstay peripheral which seems to have oh so poorly sold to manufacturers.
