Well it happened, the PS4 has been announced.

Coming this holiday, this E3 better make it a worthwhile investment otherwise Sony could be in trouble.
So what interesting stuff did they have to say ?

All I know so far is in-game recording, new controller with some kind of motion-camera-sensor-thingy, and Wet Dogs (or whatever that game is called)

EDIT - It's "Watch Dogs". Close enough.
I bet that Final Fantasy 15'll be on it as a release.
I had more fun in the stream chat trolling with everyone else than actually listening to the first 40 minutes. SO much of that conference was a snooze fest to begin with.

Firstly,
, so that was a complete turn-off for starters.

Then there was the whole "ease of use" being thrown around.
'Instantly boot up your game with no more waiting' Oooo ahhh

Back in the days before Xbox 360/PS3 we would put a disc in a play. During the N64 days we'd put the cartridge in and play straight away. NOW, they're talking about instantly booting up the game with no waiting. That's funny yall. What with Redeeming Online Passes, Day-1 DLC, Disc Locked Content, Day 1 patches, installing the game, installing the updates and making sure the console is online (and therefore having to create an account and have THAT online) instantly playing has never been easier. Such BS.

Once they got to the console and the games, then it got good. Killzone looks nice (meh), Media Molecules new idea looks awesome. The Square-enix announcement was disappointing since that trailer had been out for nearly a year now(YouTube: Angis Philosophy).
Yoshinori Ono is hilarious as always. I love how he purposefully stated it wasn't about Street Fighter. He knew!

I HATE the idea of the share button. I do not care at all about social interaction or Facebook.

Nice to see new IPs like Deep Down and Watch Dogs. By was slightly let down but the awesome idea of the anti-government game to find out it's another InFamous game(same with Killzone); these side title games.
I wasn't really impressed by the presentation, but I'm was wondering if this would be part of the show:

Because IGN don't know how to run a frikkin' stream steal.

Hey kids! You know how you already have friends that know what you play?
Well now you can share what you play!

Hey kids! You know how you don't really have any friends?
Well now you can share what you play with people you don't talk to!

This social interaction crap doesn't help for anybody if you add it in a console. Pretty soon game consoles aren't going to be famous for games.
You guys do know that social stuff is probably something you can turn off. I am still unsure why so many people were mad at this announcement.

Sorry but I think it's extremely bloody important that I let everyone know I unlocked achievements in a game.

I must let everyone know so they can LIKE and start a conversation and I'll be that much more awesome.

Because it was a central focus point for 40 MINUTES to the point we found out it's that important(!) it needed it's own button the controller. That is precious time that could've gone to improving the netcode for online or not making the menu look like Windows 8.

It's a button.

It's a button on the controller.

It's a BUTTON!

WHY IS IT A BUTTON.
Cody you do know that trying to make the interface like Windows 8 is a BAD thing right? I had never had a harder time trying to get to the start menu to restart a computer then my mom's friend's computer that had Windows 8 on it.

The button does other things as well, no need to get over dramatic over a button.

Yeah I know. That's what I said, making it not look like Windows 8.

Also, yeah it's not just Facebook. It's sharing in-game snapshots and videos. But's because it's classed as Social Gaming and they're really trying to push that. When you add a button on the controller dedicated to broadcasting to everyone what you've just done, then you've wasted time on a gimmicky featured which could've been put to better use. Xbox lets you tell everyone what achievement you have just obtained. There was a mandatory update for FFXIII-2(mandatory if you want to be online and play(and update since it was later added)) so you could tell everyone who is in your party. Uncharted 3 lets you link your account to Facebook. Now there's a button for doing all of that because it's the latest feature to have. Plus the presentation wouldn't stop mentioning that sharing is the way forward/innovative. They dedicated a lot of time just to talk about sharing/networking.

We had an awesome new controller unveiled that had around 5 minutes dedicated for it, but well over 30 minutes on "social gaming"
With that touch pad and the camera bar, it looks like they're ripping-off Nintendo's Wii-U and Microsoft's Kinect at the same time...

It's just pandering to the mass market. They know that hardcore gamers are going to buy the PS4, so don't feel the need to try and woo them as much as people who may be attracted to this whole "social gaming" experience.

Eh, if it means more people can have fun, I don't see where the problem lies.

Mmm true. But that's such a bad start when you give more time to a button on a controller than the actual controller itself. It's like Nintendo going
"Oh well here we have this high definition touch screen which pretty makes this an extremely powerful DS and it can do this and do that BUT now, screw that. We know you care about the Netflix app so lets talk about that for 30 minutes".

That's what I love Nintendo conferences. It's all about games and then apps and downloads services are this after thought.
Sony and Microsoft are trying to make this super duper all-in-one media center that plays games.
