How did you get into Pokemon?

I remember when I was about 3, I was in this day care center with a bunch of other kids. One of them had a Gameboy like me, so we started to be friends. Then, one day, he came in with this weird thing called Pokemon Yellow. After letting me try it out for an hour or so, I was hooked. I knew I had to get this game for myself. Come my next birthday, voila, brand-spanking new Pokemon Yellow right in my hands. And then Gen 2 came out....little me could barely contain his excitement when he got Silver version.

As a side note, I never figured out how to play the card game (even now, the mechanics of the card game elude me), and I never liked the anime. Mainly because, even as a kid, I knew the story of the anime was pretty damn bad.
