RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
I found one by accident, though nothing amazing.
According to Bulbapedia

Quote:Due to the DS cartridges being black, Pokémon Black is technically the first Pokémon game since Emerald to have its cartridge match the color of the game.
It's actually see-through dark red.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
By using a hack to skip the character-naming parts of Pokémon Red and Blue versions, the player's name is set to NINTEN and the rival's name is set to SONY.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
When you play as the female trainer in Pokémon Crystal Version, all of the dialogue is geared towards the male trainer, making all of the female trainers lesbians. This suggests that the female trainer was a last minute idea (Or the developers were being lazy)

Did you know?

That Pokemon Black and White shares several themes with the Japanese-exclusive Mother 3, both literally and non-literally.

For starters, some musical compositions in Pokemon Black and White sound similar to some musical compositions in Mother 3, either micking the notes and/or rhythm.

Another thing to note is that the stories in both games involve brothers who fight over a dragon which can split into a lighter half or a darker half depending which brother awakens it, and when one of them win, he unifies the land in his own image.

These connections possibly hint at some sort of remake.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
Just found this out about 2 days ago.
Did you know?
In Pokemon Black 2/ White 2 US version, The 2nd Gym Leader, Roxie, shouts the following letters(words) as the song plays in the back ground:
"P! O! K! E! M! ON! POKEMON!"

In the(original) Japanese version, however, it sounds like this:
"D! O! G! A! R! S! DOGARS!"

With "Dogars" being the Japanese name of Koffing, referencing Roxie's band name, "The Koffings".
The change of words is probably because "Dogars" is a 6-letter word, while "Koffing" is a 7-letter word. And since probably they are too lazy to search for 6- letter words, they forced "Pokemon"(another 7-letter word) instead.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
As you can see, the still unnamed legendary pokemon from "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" resembling the letter of their editions and vice versa:

the bird looks like an "Y", when it spreads it's wings and when you look into the stags eyes, you will notice, that it's pupils forming the letter "X"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfclgYT7h-A#t=70

You can also see, that the "Y" in the the game's logo seems to have feathers on it's ends, while the "X" has a very complex antlers like the fitting pokemon.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
I don't know if this is true but it would be hilarious if it did.

Omanyte and Omastar were design after the chambered nautilus. The nautilus' reproduce by the males detaching their genitalia and have it swim out looking for a female. Omanyte and Omastar's horn attack and spike cannon could be referencing this ability.

Just a note is that Kubuto is also based after the horseshoe crab. Both the horseshoe crab and the chambered nautilus are ancient but non-extinct animals.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
Vulpix could possibly be based off Japanese legend. One such legend which relates to Vulpix the most is how many-tailed foxes can breathe fire, create illusions, and have extremely long lifespans. After living a long time, these creatures take on spirit forms, which may be the reason why these two related Pokémon can learn Ghost-type moves(Vulpix is basically the only non-Ghost-type Pokémon that learns Will-O-Wisp and Grudge by leveling up)

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
Did You Know? Pokémon Yellow Had an unused battle system. You can only enable this Battle mode in Pokémon Yellow. To enable this battle mode, enter the Gameshark code 010359D0. The pokemon creators planned on having it so you had to search for your starter pokemon. So when you entered the grass without a pokemon, it would tell you to "hurry, get away!" There is an unused track on pokemon yellow that goes along with this battle system.

Battle mode:

The music:

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
i know, i´ve seen this one before somewhere, i know, that something similar is in the game already (Not 100% sure if its gen 1) and dont know in which battle this occurs, but i´ve seen this.

However, lets start again with some pokemon stuff:

In the development of pokemon, there where alot of concept art which showed some details on how stuff has to look like of should work.
Look at this picture:

It shows a dragon like pokemon (looks like charizard to me... atleast a bit), it it NO 124 (which is Jynx now), it has 900HP and 200TP.
Not that 900HP isnt a not mentionable number for a lv 47 pokemon, no the "TP" is more important here i guess.

Which brings me to the idea, that pokemon had somethink like "MP, Magical Points" in mind, but called them Technical Points instead. They where first planned but was removed for unknown reasons and where replaced with the AP we have now.
Also on the right, you can see, that one attack drains 20 TP, which goes with my theroy having TP as AP, but every move has its own TP drain number like it is now with AP, where every attack has a gap in using an attack more often (like hyper beam would drain, with 5 AP without any powerups, 40TP from the 200TP max)

other than this art from Tajiri, i cant find more informations that belongs to this picture.

Did you know, that Tajiri had trademark problems with the name "Capsule Monsters" back then?
So the fist name which belongs to alot of concept art pictures is "Poket Monsters", but changed it first to "CapuMon" or "KapuMon" and then later to "Poket Monsters".

Did you know, that all Badges you can get in gen 1 where intendet to be items a player has to carry around in the item bag?
Later on, it was changed to the case or card every trainer has and they where displayed there.
Using cheat codes can activate them, however none of the badges do anything usefull (not that we had hopes for unused stuff to work probably lol) except BoulderBadge throw Bait and CascadeBadge throws a rock when used in a battle, just like in the Safari Zone.
Also after doing so, the music changes to a loop of Prof Oaks good pokedex jingle.

Did you know, that it was planned in gen 1 to have access to the pokedex in a battle, just like Ash in the anime? You can still use it, but it causes graphical glitches, when used.

There is a women in gen 2 in Olivine City, who refers to a pharmacy in Ecruteak City instead of Cianwood City. This possibly suggests that the pharmacy was originally planned for Ecruteak City. However, this only occurs in a map, which isnt avaible in normal gameplay, only accessable due using hacks but its still in the game code.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
In Pokemon Conquest, there are warlords named Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Leyasu.
These are actual people from Japanese history.

http://www.serebii.net/conquest/bushou.shtml
http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Oda_N...%28Civ5%29

(To anyone else, feel free to do more digging. It doesn't come as a shock personally considering Conquest is Nobunaga's ambition with Pokemon and is only called Conquest outside Japan)

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
Did you know that in the Generation 1 games, there is an unused Pokemon Trainer name Chief? One team rocket member in celadon city says something about “The chief”. This is the only time this trainer is referenced in the game. The sprite resembles that of a scientist, and the Japanese version states that the player would have to fight the head of Silph Co. But unlike Prof. Oak, there is no team programmed for the Chief.

The chief's sprite.
Did you know that in Generation 1 games, the player was originally going to be able to use the PokeDex in battle, much like the anime? Since the item was incomplete, it causes various graphical bugs upon usage.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows?
This is not a real DYK, just a thing i thought of while playing fire red.
If you go to the Safari Zone, you have to go without any Pokemon. You can meet powerful Pokemon like Taurus without being attacked by them, even if you are throwing stones at them, the worst thing that could happen is, they disapear. So its actually nonsense, that wild Pokemon are dangerous. That means the player live the whole life in a three-house-vilage, without being allowed to leave, until he gets a Pokemon, because the adults say he could be attacked by a Pidgey, which couldnt even harm you and wont attack.

...Unless the Pokémon in the Safari Zone are specifically tamed/socialized for that one enclosed area.
Or if those particular species are more docile/prone to running.

No, the safari zone appeared in the anime aswell (where ash caught his tauros army) and they where pretty wild i would say.

He got a point in that pokemon game logic, there is no reason, the trainer should leave all his pokemon on the desk and go catch pokemon with a rock, some food and 30x balls. Makes no sense with the thing in mind, that pokemons are dangerous like they told us before Confused
