so guys i recently started a play through a heartgold and i decided to challenge myself by making up a rule that i can only play with one pokemon through the whole game. i decided that i can only play with 1 pokemon in the party at any one time but i could swap pokemon if i wanted as long as only 1 was in the party.

the idea works well its fun and challenging just wondering if anyone else has done a challenge thats not the nuzlock

Technically, I did this challenge back when I was a kid. I used just my starter, and never anything else. I got my ass kicked a few times, but after grinding (damn you, rpg cliché!), I managed to get through the whole game.

I did something similar, though it was just out of "want to complete the game as quickly as possible". I just trained my starter. It worked except for when I was battling someone whose Pokémon was mine's weakness.

currently just after getting the 9th badge and havent had many problems yet using only typhlosion but i see the cerulean gym being a tough one

Should only use Mainkeh!

Wait, what do you do if you come across problems due to HM's though?

When i was young, i only used my pikachu(obviously in Yellow version) since i was one of many kids that i hanged with that believed that love and friendship is the only thing to conquer Pokemon.

That's why we have HM slaves. They never see the glory of battle, relegated only for the use of clearing paths or surfing us across the waters. HM slaves are not technically going against the quote-unquote 1-Mon Challenge.

i just plan ahead and swap to a pokemon thats suitable for the most part, like i have a poliwrath too that can use surf and strength and i just dont use fly
