I realise that this is an incredibly inflammatory subject. I'm just curious. I'd request that the mods would delete this thread if there's so much as a hint of an argument. I just think it'd be nice to get a feel of what everyone's like.

Me, I'm as left-wing as they come without going full-circle and becoming a communist dictatorship supporter. Left, is my basic position. Youse guys?

RE: Politics
I think this thread will have a bunch of different mini conversations about this topic considering we all live in a lot of different countries, me personally I think that everyone should have equal treatment and that we should help people who are in need with resources from the people that have more than enough of it.

Edit: Also Beardy you can delete a thread yourself by deleting the original post. Wink

This. This is exactly how I feel.

"Gay" marriage is not a problem. It's a non-issue. Two consenting adults should be allowed to marry, end of story.

Appropriate access to doctors, medical care, and medicine should be made available to everybody. Pharmaceutical companies should not operate for ridiculously high profits.

There should still be incentives to be wealthy and successful, but there becomes a point where someone can have too much money. If someone has more money than they can spend in a lifetime, then they don't deserve tax cuts and breaks. People who are less fortunate are not lazy or and less of a person than someone who is wealthy. There should be more of a sense of unity and camaraderie with citizens of a country, we're all in this together.

Large corporations don't deserve bailouts. Sorry, but if you go under that's just what happens with capitalism. Public institutions should be protected, and banks should not. Not unless they are, in fact, made to be public institutions without giant profit margins.

I guess you can say I'm liberal, but I don't vote. American politics is a total joke and only serves to be something that should be relentlessly mocked. It is unfortunate that there are bad people in control of such a struggling and faltering country.

I know right. Shoutouts to North Carolina being one of the biggest dickhead states to live in.
"I hate the gays, vote to discriminate" D:
Incredibly pathetic.

American Politics is probably the best so much more interesting. It's like a surreal version of Phoenix Wright but with higher power politics.
Compared to ours, we just have the inane chatter of robots repeating the same one line over and over:

RE: Politics
I'm am a liberal when it comes to morals. I want people to have equal rights and an equal chance of becoming successful. No more discrimination or hating. I'm pretty close to being a socialist, but because of my moral beliefs. If you are capable of helping others that are struggling at practically no cost to yourself, you have a moral obligation to do so.
I don't see why socialism has such a bad rep for being a horrible economic model, when it has barely been around long enough to study.
I'm also very much for the teaching of science and evolution in schools, and the removal of religion from both the (public) school system and government.

It's because it's similar to communism and if executed poorly it can ruin a nation but if done right it would not be a bad system by any means, just like communism could work really well but only in small communities a large community and it all falls apart. Also to summarize it what communism was back in the 70's is what socialism is today in what people think of it.

Absolutely not true.

As always I'm open to correction Beardy, if I am wrong in any situation no one should hesitate to correct my mistake.

Of course it is. Communism uses the socialist form of economy.

And that is what I was getting at, Big Grin although try not to start any arguments as Beardy will delete this thread if that happens.

Communism uses the socialist form of economy and extends it into politics, generally as a totalitarian regime. Whilst it may be built on some of the same ideals, it's markedly different.

And feel free to argue your points sensibly. I just didn't want it to get nasty is all, which is what I meant originally (though didn't really state it properly). I'm fine with people disagreeing, just so long as we play nice. I'm not about to delete this thread for any reason, I'll leave that up to the mods.
