I made this thread for us manual lurkers. So this thread can go back to being sad for the lack of manuals. By me taking away the pictures. Irony.

All the irony

RE: No manuals
I think we can see from this that one of the good points of manuals dying out is that people won't be laughing at them on the internet, so it's probably in game studio's best interests to get rid of them.

I got shocked when I looked into the box of Lollipop Chainsaw and didn't find a manual. All I found was a bunch of CD-keys for costumes and a two page folder about the mandatory X360 stuff.

MK9, Gears 3 and Lollipop Chainsaw are that I can remember. Such BS. Games should be cheaper then (seeing how most of it locked anyway).

Pretty sure Lollipop Chainsaw WAS cheaper, wasn't it?

Yeah it was. I guess then it's OK and I do love Suda 51. But when you full price or more for game like Gears to get a folded A4(ish) sheet that's just lazy.

On the flip side, I get annoyed at the hawking of "special editions" which, basically are in a nicer box and include a manual plus maybe some concept art. In itself, that's fine if that's what you're after, but the price difference is usually shocking.

Whenever Ibuy a game, on the way home I like to read and stare endlessly at the manuals. :C

RE: No manuals
What I think is truly awful about the death of manuals is that now it's actually a valid business plan to sell those big, thick "guides" which are always stacked by the checkout in game shops and cost about fifteen quid.

But now they're sold separately. It bugs the shit out of me, it really does. And that's for a game I loved.

RE: No manuals
I miss the manuals. Now if you get a manual all it consists of is manufacturer warnings and where to go if you need system help. Pretty lame.

So do I, ha! Get a game, then while walking home you read the manual. Good times good times. I do it so often as well. Nice to see I share something in common with a frikkin' Torkoal. Big Grin
