This thread gives me hope!

First off, money does a lot to effect the score, paid reviewers are everywhere, but there is a common trend of games, mostly from Microsoft and E.A, with Halo 4's IGN review (fucking 9.8 "best halo game ever"), and Dead Space 3 (9.75) and I've just noticed that it's now an all money based system, because if you don't give money to them sometimes, they may tell everyone the game is terrible, and not review it properly, out of spite.
Reviews have stopped becoming trustworthy, and because of this, my experience is all I go on, and from what I've seen and read. I could tell Halo 4 was going to be bad from a mile off, once I saw the first bit of Gameplay, and the months leading up, I knew it would be bad, and it was, yet IGN called it DA BEST GAME EVER 9.8/10. Reviews, and by extension Gaming Journalism is a joke.
Exactly. I'm sick of people who wank(for/against) off to Metacritic. I've just beaten Dead Space 3 and that game was amazing. But a 9.75? Ha-NO! But this also applies to games like CoD and Halo. To say "those games don't deserve high scores" is also BS. It's purposefully catering to the mindless who think it's cool to rag on CoD because they think CoD is a bad game. CoD does deserve a consistent decent score(not 8s or 9s) but they are well made and do earn where they are. It works both ways yet bitching smaller games should be higher than CoD and that CoD should be less than [indie game] is BS.
Or with those who weren't happy about Skyward Sword scoring higher. I don't hate reviews, but I hate how game reviewers have come. I still go to Gametrailers because I honestly think that their reviews are pretty decent with minor eff ups and they do seem honest but I'm still able to make my own opinion(unlike other people). I enjoy watching Yahtzee because it makes me happier watching a grown miserable shit complain about games non-stop, but that's not to say I don't like him and I do find his reviews enjoyable, and I love brutal no-sugar coating honesty(Yahtzee in a nutshell). Or others like Angry Joe who understand gamers.
So yeah, all hail Pope Dorito
Or the top-notch article on Eurogamer which started off the one the biggest eye openers with
what's wrong with gaming reviewers.
