During the Acorn Festival in Animal Crossing: Wild World, a tortoise named Cornimer appears with the magical power to spread acorns throughout the town. Cornimer strongly resembles Tortimer. Tortimer is also not behind the desk in the town hall. This suggests that Cornimer is just Tortimer in an acorn mask.
