WHY DOES THIS EXIST?!

ATLANTICA WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WORLDS IN KINGDOM HEARTS

I CRIED WHEN I ARRIVED HERE IN KINGDOM HEARTS 2.

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE SQUARE FOR THIS INSULT.

What happened ? What happened ?

Basically, Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, and I was really into the combat and gameplay, but then, BUT THEN You get to the Little Mermaid world, and instead of underwater combat or interesting story or anything else that the game excelled at up to that point, you have quicktime events. No, not Resident Evil 4 style quick time events, THE ENTIRE WORLD IS QUICKTIME EVENTS. ALL OF IT. Worst of all, They're Disney Sing-along quicktime events

RE: Dreaded parts in games.
Water levels. Goddamn water levels. I hate being underwater in games because that in most cases means you are more vulnerable and it just plain sucks.

Other thing I absolutely loathe: quicktime events. They ruin my perfectly good flow in any game by just going "SMASHTHISBUTTONYOUDIEDFUCKYOUTRYAGAIN". I am fine if they are well implemented and if they actually fit the situation but most of the time they just ruin games for me. Resident Evil has lately been the worst offender with absolutely everything being a quicktime event nowadays. I can't even put down my controller for a cutscene because guess what, there just might be a QTE that randomly kills you and makes you start the whole section again.

So to say, I don't really have a specific part in any game I don't like. It's just collectively everything that involves the above.

I hate being timed to do anything. I just get to pressured. It's the only reason I've never beaten Majora's Mask.

I'm probably one of the few on this planet that actually doesn't mind Sonic '06 BUT THOSE LOADING SCREEN! It's not even funny how bad they are.

Majoras Mask does allow you slow time down and you're supposed to run out of time so you can go back to day 1 beat it quicker.

Another dreaded part in games.
Day 1 DLC

RE: Dreaded parts in games.
Bosses that you're supposed to lose against, when done poorly, that is.
A good example of how to do these right is at the beginning of Paper Mario (64) where you fight Bowser right out of the get go and he shows off how powerful he is with his new Star Rod, and you can't even touch him, then he punches you out of a window. The entire battle isn't just a cutscene where it shows you getting your ass kicked, you as the player actually feel sort of helpless as your attacks do nothing and he deals major damage to you, he being Bowser, the guy who you've been destroying for years in other Mario games. Not to quote Egoraptor here, but just like in Mega Man X, this first battle serves as a driving force throughought the game, you're not just beating levels to save a princess from some evil lizard/dragon/turtle thing, you're becoming stronger so that you can find Bowser and get some revenge.

That's how you do these well, 98% of other games who try this end up making you fight a guy who's really strong, so you waste all of your items on trying to defeat him, only to realize at the end that you were never supposed to win and let him kick your ass.

I'm looking at you Tales of Symphonia.

RE: Dreaded parts in games.
I actually remember in the Guilty Gear X2 story line that there was a fight like that.

It was in Jam's story line that right from the get-go you fight Robo-Ky, a bonus character that pops up here and there in the story line. Now, the boss was INSANO hard, but depending on your victory/defeat, it changed how the story went.

However, to get bonus characters, you needed to get ALL the endings for ALL characters...

Meaning you had to beat this insanely hard fight...

And if you were me at the time, you'd be around 11-12 years old. Yea.

RE: Dreaded parts in games.
After completing Sonic the Hedgehog yesterday, I recently found out how much I hate water levels even more than I thought I did.

Mostly because you get your breath back from Bubbles in specific areas, and if you go off screen and then back on screen the bubble animation resets, and it always takes 5 seconds for the bubble you need to appear.

I've died a lot of time from this, and the fact there are a lot of badly place ring spots before bosses.

RE: Dreaded parts in games.
Unskippable tutorials. It's painful to sit there and watch the game tell you to do the most basic stuff. It's especially painful if it's like the seventh title in the series and you have gone through the same tutorial in each game. Can't the developers seriously just let you skip that shit?
