I just found out that losing a battle in Pokémon Red and Blue, will make you lose half your money.

I found this out after I grinded with the Gym leaders with about 20000 Pokédollars.

I thought this was implemented in Gen 3, when it would say (x money has been given to the winner)

It's very annoying.
