I sort of agree, although my problems lie with the Pacing more than the editing. They had less episodes to convey the story, but still at the end they just seemed to rush through the character of Amon and all. It feels like episode 12 (the finale) wasn't the finale to plots layed out from episode 1, just those layed out from episode 10. The original had far more natural pacing, and we care about Aang and his journey to master the elements and defeat the Fire Lord.
Plus the original was a lot darker. Everyone's parents were either dead, away or jerks, the main antagonist committed
Genocide , the series dealt with issues that a kid-aimed show typically wouldn't deal with, like death, genocide, military dictatorship, spirituality, love, and awesome flying lemurs.
And now we get a powerful bender from the get-go playing magical dodgeball. It's just not the same.
