An old DYKG as I played Doom and Doom 2 growing up but it is still a gold find. Wish I remembered it XD

Also on one of the last levels of Doom 2 you have to shoot 4 little characters that are hanging on the ceiling and that is a reference to Commander Keen which was one of IDs earliest games they published.
