You haven't played SS! *Gasp*. Well I guess if you know the story then that's really all that's important. It's a key story point in the Zelda timeline.

Also, what Retrolinx was saying, ALttP(and Minish Cap) wasn't big, but it definitley felt it because of how interesting Hyrule was. You couldn't really go anywhere without there being something to do. Zelda TP was (I think) the biggest Zelda game created but it didn't feel dull travelling through Hyrule. However in Skyward Sword the world didn't serve any purpose other than a hub world to go to each different location and Skyloft had hardly anything interesting to do. It was supposed to feel like the opposite of TWW which had a huge vast ocean to explore with small islands or points of interest but in the sky.

What I'm saying is, it's not really about scale but how Hyrule is occupied and what you can do. ALttP was small but had a lot to do, SS was the same but meh.
