It's what you said. A huge fighting game tournament where people all over the world come to compete. Just Street Fighter IV had 1500 contestants. They do this once a year to decide who is the best fighting player in a collection of games.

That makes much more sense.
Who would've thought so many people would turn up to game, must be quite some atmosphere !
