I don't have any particular position in this.... but wherever you work, how can you tell that consoles are dying? There haven't been any new ones released for ages. Are you saying that consoles from 2006 aren't selling very well anymore?
People aren't buying them like they used to. They prefer gaming on tablets/smartphones since it's all connected and they don't need anything extra, plus they can take their tablets/phones with them wherever they go as opposed to an Xbox or any other TV console.

Sales in all gaming consoles have slowly started dying over the last few years. We can't take older generation consoles into the playing field since we do not sell them anymore and they are no longer in production, but we can the more recent ones like PS3, PSP, Xbox, Wii, and DS. Manufacturers and retail establishments keep track of all sales history so what I'm saying is coming from fact. The numbers just do not show and increase in game consoles sales and haven't the last few years.

Would that not be because there are no really new consoles out there at the moment apart from the 3DS which was overpriced and under-advertised? I'm not arguing that people like mobile gaming, but it seems a bit... er, presumptuous to say that consoles are dead. How's the PlayBook doing vs the DS, for example?
I'm not saying they're dead, I'm saying they're dying. It's not because of there not being new ones either. The 3DS was never a huge hit. It had it's heyday when it first came out like every other console, but it's sales have slumped too and it never surpassed regular consoles. Smartphones and tablets on the other hand are rising rapidly. Sales in games for the smartphone and tablet platform are skyrocketing as well. The numbers don't lie.
