It wasn't really lack of creativity that led to the crash, but the abundance of consoles and the fact that, back then, the programmers/designers of the games barely got paid for their work. The companies liked to screw the people who made their games and barely gave them any recognition for their hard work.
And since the current companies don't do that (with some minor exceptions, but the workers usually just quit to form their own game studios), I doubt any crash will ever occur in our lifetimes or possibly ever again. And also, the current game market is as strong as ever, and grows each year. All of this culminates in a strong community for games, so again, very highly doubt any crash will happen again.
