For some research I did a year and a half ago, I used a VR headset to plunge my participants in a 3D environment. About 60% got motion sickness when I played the roller coaster demo for fun at the end of the experiment

The eyes say "we're moving" and the brain is like "lolwut, no we're not, the ear fluids ain't doing nuthin'". Then the confusion leads to motion sickness
