Conker's Bad Fur Day Appreciation thread
CFBD is one of my favourite games, ever. So in light of the recent 'Did You Know Gaming - CBFD', I feel that this game deserves it's own thread. Hell, if it were up to me I'd give the game it's own forum. It's one of Rare's finest, before they went... y'know... *sigh*

So this thread is just to discuss how awesome this game truly is. Doesn't matter what version you've played - N64 or Xbox! Although, if you've only played the Xbox version, you're missing out on a plethora of multi-player mayhem!

Right now, I'm just going to gush.

HOW AWESOME WAS THE SOUND EFFECTS AND OVERALL MUSIC IN THIS GAME? I STILL TO THIS DAY WHISTLE THE 'WINDY' OVERWORLD THEME UNINTENTIONALLY.

(I'm not going to do this all in caps because it will probably annoy people, but please understand and appreciate my sheer love and enthusiasm for this game. Tongue)

Wasn't it cool that the first time you died, you got to watch a non-repayable cut-scene, introducing 'Greg the Grim Reaper'?!? I would restart savefiles again for the sole purpose to see that cut-scene again.

It was pretty neat to see a cameo from Banjo Kazooie when you go to select a chapter, huh? Yeah it was! Big Grin

How hilarious was it at the end of the game when you're fighting the Alien, the Alarm voice saying, "Throw the Alien out, and shut the bloody door..."

I can go on and on, but I'll let you chime in if you share fond memories of this game too.

Even though I know there's the xbox version. But someone really needs to port the N64 version over and have online play with it. Because the Xbox version is censored (I believe). But I absolutely love this game!

Yes it's one of my top 5 (as I listed in some topic) Amazing game, it's seems to good to be true that the game with the most humor with adult themes, also happens to be the game with the best and most diverse gameplay. Especially from nintendo. This game is solid fecking gold.

Plus, it was a Rare game. And Rare back on the N64 were geniuses. I absolutely loved them.

The same shooter team from old rare made Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitter: Future perfect. Check these games out for Goldeneye/Perfect dark quality shooters!

I was too young to play it (I grew up with strict parents) but I did play Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie on the N64 and Rare grew on me. I do not own a 360 so I can not play the port but I am sure I could try to get my N64 working so I could play it again.

Back when it was new I could never get myself to like. The humor was always.. Too much. It was like the writer constantly were going for "YEP, WE JUST MADE THAT JOKE. KIDS BEWARE", instead of being actual funny.

This is just my personal opinion though, and I can see the appeal. The game never was for me though.

Thats because it's 99% new members now, check out where the old guys went off to and play there games. Alot of them went to retro studios who make nintendo games again. There shooter team became free-radical. etc..

T'is a shame too but Rare were crapping out gold with every N64 title. It's like there is this overbearing presence everytime they try to do something interesting. They have to clamp down and make ....this ¬_____¬

The only reason they do this now is one of these two reasons:
1 - Microsoft corrupted them completely and forces them to crap shitty games
2 - It's just that the team they had back in the N64 days isn't the same anymore, hell, even in their gamecube days they weren't doing that many good games. So I'd say that it's basically the team nowadays isn't as good as the team before.

Rare was already gone before Microsoft bought them. So, Microsoft did no damage. All the creative people who did work at rare quit before they were bought anyways.

That's what I was about to say.

ANYWAY back to conker... I wish more games would replicate it's multiple game modes. It was a great shooter AND platformer. With an incredibly fun single player and a very addicting multiplayer.

Yes! Anyone remember playing 'Heist'? I loved it. How Frustrating was it when you almost had the bag of loot in your safe, then some son of a gun comes up behind you and smacks you with a baseball bat, making the money go back to the centre. Gah!
