RE: Comic Books/Manga
I just finished reading a graphic novel series called Y: The Last Man. It's exactly what it sounds like, but things don't happen the way you think they would. I highly recommend it.

RE: Comic Books/Manga
Again I must apologize for the bump, but I was just about to make a Comic book thread when the rules got the better of me and I typed it into the search box, and since this thread has been dead for half a year I figured I'd just post here to see what some of our newer members have to say about this.

Anyhoo, I just finished reading the first Scott Pilgrim Graphic novel, and it is really fantastic, better than the movie if I do say so myself. Now I have the second and third iterations waiting at the library, which I forgot closes for the weekend until about twelve minutes after they closed for the weekend. Sadness.

I haven't read much manga recently, but... I started checking out some of DC Comics' catalog of stuff like Before Watchmen.

RE: Comic Books/Manga
I love comics! I read pretty much whatever as long as it interests me. Bleach has started to bore me because of how damn repetitive it is. I just wish this current story arc would end so I can stop buying them.

On top of that, I'm currently reading Naruto, One Piece and Gon. Then, when I occasionally go to a comic store, I usually buy a new issue of Scott Pilgrim, Highschool of the Dead, The Ring, Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell and/or a new Street Fighter manga. I recently got into Deadpool, too. Should propably find myself the collected edition of Deadpool and Cable when I have the time. Oh, and I read Vagabond and Gantz whenever my friend buys a new one.

I'm really sad that they cancelled the Disgaea manga...

I posted my collection previously on the collections thread but here it is again:

They did? *looks at the PC game box* Huh. Indeed they did. The more you know, I guess.

On another note, what did this have to do with manga and comics? Big Grin

RE: Comic Books/Manga
I don't read much, but I did read a few manga's.

I read Happy World to the end, and I'm currently reading "It's not my fault that I'm unpopular".

Comic wise, I read a lot of Beano, and Dandy when I grew up, since it was once a week, along with 200 page annuals a year which was always great.

The last comic I read was a Batman comic, according to my brother, it was the first chronological appearance of the Joker.

Also, somehow while I was writing this, I did not misspell chronological, but misspelt appearance...?

Well, turns out they only had issues up till the end of 2011. Sad face.

RE: Comic Books/Manga
Some months ago I started reading Batman comics, taking advantage of the New 52 reboot (so I didn't really need to know a lot about past events), but close to the year's end, it started being a little harder for me to keep buying the comics. I read the main Batman magazine until issue #13, I think, and Detective Comics and Batman The Dark Knight until #6 or #7.

Now I started reading Spiderman and Ultimate Marvel. Here, the #700 issue hasn't launched yet, but it's close (maybe some 3 or 4 more months).

But I'm still kinda new to these mainstream hero comics, and there's a lot I don't understand yet. Who knows someday, when I have had read an entire Marvel mega event or something like that... (I have to finish reading the Civil War, btw)

RE: Comic Books/Manga
I'm currently reading The Walking Dead.
I would like to get my hands on Tank Girl.
Also any other horror style comics I can find (recommendations would be great!).

I have to pace myself though, even with regular books, because I keep all books I buy. I don't sell them back or trade with friends. I'm a fast reader (especially when I enjoy what i'm reading) so I can go through them too quickly if I don't watch it.

Tank Girl is a pretty fun one. I haven't read the comics but I read the novelization at a local library.

Horror style comics you say? Prepare for a list...
• The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks (based on Max Brooks' books)
 • The Lovecraft Anthology
 • The Darkness (if that counts)
 • Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash (continues from where the movie left off)
 • Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors (continuation of the above)
 • Army of Darkness comics, starting from the film adaptation and continuing in Ashes 2 Ashes. For the full list and timeline: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_of_Dar...8comics%29
 • The Dark Tower (based on the Stephen King books)
 • Resident Evil Fire & Ice (collected edition, preferably, as you get more than just the initial series)
 • Any Silent Hill comic, really, though to get the most for your buck, I'd suggest getting the Silent Hill Omnibus. The stories are completely independent (as are the Resident Evil ones) so you don't really have to know the story in the games.
 • The Mammoth Book of Zombie Comics and The Mammoth Book of Horror Comics (published by Robinson, edited by David Kendall) are pretty much a must as both collect some of the best of their genre in one book. If you can't get either, try at least getting Dead Eyes Open (full comic is in the first Mammoth Book). It is my favorite comic of all time.
 • Do you read manga? If yes, there's Hellsing, Higurashi, The Dreaming, The Ring, Corpse Party, Battle Royale and Hino Horror.
Those should keep you covered for a while Tongue Most of them are something I personally have or are something that I've read so I might be a bit biased.
