Games you hate, but everyone loves - Zaliphone - 07-23-2012 03:51 AM This is a tie-in with this thread. All you have to do is say the game, why you hate it, and be prepared for the hate that people will give you. I personally don't like Gears of War. I don't like how the game has just about 3 different colors in total, I prefer my games to be bit more colorful. I also don't like the reloading mechanic, it's a bit annoying in my opinion. I also hate Amnesia. I'm not a fan of most horror games because they usually rely on jump scares, which really aren't scary, but is just embarrassing. A real horror game should make the player fear to advance in the game. Not have them fear the half second after a random thing appears on screen with an ominous noise, sometimes loud, and maybe a flash of light. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 07-23-2012 04:01 AM Oh lawd, I'm gonna cause the biggest tirade of anger but... I'm not the biggest fan of the Final Fantasy series. I think they're repetitive and I dislike being stopped every 10 seconds by a battle which you can't avoid because if you do, you don't get to exp and you suck for the rest of the game... Artwork (concept or otherwise) is incredible though. Also, I enjoy the installments in which the fights are in real time, as well as the tactics games. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Nostalgic_Machine - 07-23-2012 04:53 AM Despite their popularity, I have absolutely ZERO tolerance for massive multiplayer first person shooters like Call of Duty, Gears of War, etc. Give me my NES, SNES, and Genesis and I'm all set! RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Sirion - 07-23-2012 05:33 AM League of Legends (and dota-like games in general). Almost all of my gamer friends play this game and I just can't see the point. It's in beta for the brazilian official launch and everybody is like "OMG DIS GONNA BE SO AWESOME!!!" Maybe that's just a rant because I help translate Dota 2 on Steam Translation Server (which I also don't play, because I can't get these games' mechanics, so I stick to heroes' bios). Edit: 100th post! Yay me! I don't hate CoD, Battlefield, Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts or Assassins Creed but the games are extremely dull. CoD 4 was the last good CoD game. BF: BC was OK but meh. Assassins Creed I could never get into and the hype around each games release was far to high. None of them are poorly made either, I just don't think they're for me. Banjo 3...meh I can't think of a game I truly hate that other people like. Street Fighter x Tekken is one of the worst fighting games ever played that I hate, but it's hated among pretty much everyone. Edit: I got one. FIFA/PES and Forza/Gran Turismo. My days! Fifa is quite possibly one of the worst series of games ever created. Football itself it's absolute crap, but the games are so bloody dull. They get released yearly with minimal updates at full price, the fanbase suck, the graphics are crap. It has NO life at all! Forza and Gran Turismo looks amazing sure, but the gameplay is like "I have an idea, why don't we take the fast paced fun side of games like Burnout, strip it down and make a game of it. Ive been a fan of turn based fighitng games like that, but Pokemon is probably my favourite out of all turn based games. Plots are normally boring, with the same-ish characters, the cute ones, the grumpy one, the badass one, and I know, the graphics are amazing and theres teary moments but I just get more thrill from games like Pokemon and Fire Emblem. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Nuudoru - 07-23-2012 08:30 AM Banjo-Kazooie. Boring character design, game is too easy, so many bad design choices, controls are clunky at times, and the overworld (Gruntilda's castle) is confusing as hell to get around in. I played through the game this summer with my roommate to remember myself why I didn't play it as a kid. It didn't take long for me to go "Aha..". We still ended up 100% anyway. I also found Deus EX: HR to be terribly uninteresting and slowpaced. To be fair I didn't get very far so I'm going to leave this one as just "personal opinion". RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Beardy - 07-23-2012 10:28 AM I've said it before, I'll say it again; Mario Party games. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Ouberry_13 - 07-23-2012 10:42 AM Ok, I've prepared my anus for the metaphorical ass-rape that will ensue. I hate Batman: Arkham City. To me, it lost the feeling it had when they decided to switch the setting to a giant city. Keeping everything contained in the asylum was perfect. It made everything seem more sinister, as it was small, tight area literally filled with nothing but insane people. Putting the setting into a city allowed me to avoid most encounters with enemies, and therefore, I lost the feeling of being trapped. Batman could have left the city at any time. Any damn time he wanted to. Hell, Robin managed to find his way inside the city, same with Catwoman. Neither of them were put in like Batman was. They found a way in, therefore, there's a way out. And Batman could have left whenever. Plus, the Protocol 10 idea makes sense. Kill all the criminals. None of them can be reformed, and have proven time and again they will always, always, resort to murder and mayhem. Let them die. This is one of the reasons I also do not fully like Batman. He never kills, even when doing so would save hundreds, even thousands, of innocent lives. He has to make a point that hes better than the criminals. Fuck Batman. He's no better than them. He still takes justice into his own hands, and he still beats the ever-living shit out of people. That's illegal, and yet he still does it. Anyway, my rant is over. Verbally assault me if you please. Completely agree with you. I loved Asylum, City was a massive letdown for me. All the foreshadowing of "protocol 10" was just an insane letdown. Really? That's the nefarious plan from a supervillain? Just shoot the shit out of everyone in this ridiculous prison that is dumb even by comic-book standards? Yeah, Asylum was more tightly plotted. It was more of a story, rather than a bunch of stuff that Batman did. Yea. The only thing I didn't like about Asylum was the final boss.....I don't think anyone saw that coming. And I know absolutely no one enjoyed that stupid fight. And what did they do for City? Made the final boss a whole bunch of fights AGAIN, rather than a boss fight. Also, I like how Batman goes back to Arkham City without even nipping off for a change of clothes and a shower after City is done because DLC everybody. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Nuudoru - 07-23-2012 06:07 PM Alright. I'm going to quote a post I made some time ago at this forum in the "Overrated games" thread. I do not like racing game or sports games nor do I like DDR. Now to be more specific. I do not like the Halo series, it is nothing too special. I have recently (within the past few years) learned to hate CoD. I never got into the Gears of War series. I would not say HATE but I do not like the God of War series. That is about it. |
