RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - DarkNerd - 08-20-2012 05:15 PM

Pidgeot and Pidgeotto shared a name.

Pokemon Yellow is actually the fourth version. Red and Green were the originals in Japan, with Blue being the re-release, equivalent to Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum.

Here's a mind-fuck. Mewtwo's first appearance wasn't in Pokemon Red/Green. [Image: 36-2.png]
I believe that is earthbound, made by the same company that makes Pokemon.

Pokemon isn't a Nintendo first-party. It's actually third party, belonging to GameFreak. So while COD: Pokemon Edition is possible, it's highly unlikely.

Thought you were talking about Game freak for a second there.

Turns out APE turned into Creatures.

Pretty sure they didn't design the Pokemon though.

IDK, but I think Creatures turned into something else too... IDK much abiut companies, just the games, XD. Not referring to Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.

@Hexadecimal
I found that Lavender town song. Meh! Believing in it is just....pretty lame. Doesn't stop the song being awesome though.

I actually did get a very mild headache listening to that.

GUYS WHAT IF GASTLY IS ACTUALLY DEAD KOFFING THAT EXPLODED?

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - Moriatti - 08-23-2012 06:32 AM

-Mewtwo's design is a reference to Frieza from DBZ (colour palette and number of toes)

-On the "You killed your rival's Raticate" thing, it should be noted that you can trade a Pokémon with cut into your game, and skip the SS Anne, and your Rival will still be without a Raticate. Since after beating his Pokémon, he mentions he's going to fight Lt. Surge, it can be assumed that if the Raticate was killed, Surge was the murderer.

-On the Arcanine as a "Legendary" thing... He originally was supposed to be one, specifically, he would lead the three birds. This was changed, but it is still referenced in a few places, like the second episode of the cartoon shows him running infront of the birds, as if leading them.

-Tyranitar's design was based off of Godzilla while Hydreigon's design is based off of King Ghidorah. Interestingly, the two share the type of Dark, as opposed to Dragon, as one would assume.

-Expanding on the Kadabra controversy, Uri Geller's lawsuit is actually what prevented a reprint of the Kadabra card, and why Abra has the Pokepower "Warp Evolution" in the card game, in which he can evolve straight into Alakazam.

Dont listen to it for 4h dude Big Grin

And woa woa, Moriatti..
That with the Raticate was a bit weird.
Well yes, there is no proof, that we killed his Raticate, but there is no proof, that someone else killed it.
When you watch it like we play, it can be killed in every trainer battle or random pokemon battle Rolleyes

So its just a guess but its cool, that you can think, that you killed it, isnt it?

First one, actually reference to Earthbound, as I mentioned.

Second, rumor, but I do like that theory, makes quite a lot of sense.

Third, not new, but wasn't planning on elaborating as much as you did.

Fourth, interesting, but I knew that already. Thought it was a bit obvious, being Japan and whatnot.

Fifth, GOOD ONE. ACTUALLY SOMETHING I DIDN'T KNOW. I APPLAUD YOU.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - Moriatti - 08-23-2012 11:24 PM

Most of the good stuff has been taken. The Raticate one irritates me because there's a programmed way to get around the encounter, so it wasn't you.

As for gen V in general, has anyone pointed out that it's Gen 1 remixed?

EDIT: The Abra ultra evolution was an attack, not a Pokébody, regardless, here's the card: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Abra_(Mysterious_Treasures_69)

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - Deadalus - 08-24-2012 06:48 AM

Yes but it was intendet to roll like this:

Get your ass on the Boat, beat Gary with his Raticate, rub the captains back, get cut and move on.

Not like this:

Have a friend, let him give you a pokemon with cut and dont even waste a single second on that boat and "change" the story in some ways.

ofc you may say, that this is possible, yes. But the story (Yea Story, kind of) is fixed and you can change it like that in any other game.

Sleepy

Some ppl here mentioned, that pokemons are listened in some real life places, so i have one too:

Did you know, that Xatu was involved in South American myths?
Edition Silver, FireRed and SoulSilver mentioned this in his/her pokedex entry.

Did you know, that every generation got its own Pokerap, except the fourth one?

(Man i loved the first one... memories Big Grin.. Just like the song from Brock "rocky, oh rocky, joy, oh joy... someone?)

Did you know...

That the date of Ash´s birth, according to Takeshi Shudo´s anime novelizations, is 10 years, 10 months, and 10 days exactly prior to the day he began his Pokemon journey?

Last one, did you know...

That not a single second was used from the very first trailer from the first Pokemon movie was used IN the movie?

I just checked, since it's been awhile, but Nintendo patched the problem with Cofagrigus.

Originally, due to the censorship policy, this Pokemon wasn't allowed on the GTS since it had the word "fag" in its name.

I can only say that this reaches extreme levels of retardness...

The same goes for Bulbasuar.

Also, some extra trivia.

The star K.O. from Super Smash Bros. (melee/brawl) is a reference to how Team Rocket usually get sent flying then vanish into a star.

And when you send all team enemies fly off the top of the screen you get a bonus called Rocket K.O. in Melee.

So-so so far...
Question: Does this thread make me king of Pokemon facts? Because that'd be fucking awesam.

This is an interesting, yet kind of easy to notice one: In every game, there's at least one trainer with a team of 6 MAGIKRAPS!

I don't know if I mentioned this, but the two human ghosts in the old Chateau were most likely poisoned. If you go to the kitchen, one of the trash cans has an unused antidote, used to cure poison.

All for today, my subjects.
